While I understand the point of the group is to celebrate dragons (and who wouldn't want to?) by sharing artwork created by talented people, doing so violates our rules when the content you are uploading does not belong to you nor was it created for you, even if you have permission.

Unless the artist and the people involved in said pics approves of the pics being reposted for whatever reason, you shouldn't repost stuff.

And even then you probably shouldn't anyways cause admins will probably be on you about it regardless.

Honesty I dont understand. People are running with all this upload and copyright policy like they create something REALLY unique and of course commercial and popular. Really? Guys its just pixels and cool images. People like to watch art. Thats it. Anybody still didnt die from reposted pictures and even stolen art. I wont never understand that <__< And I am freelance artist for 5 ears already with own big setting.

Cause people paid for that art and when people take stuff that people paid for, its generally pisses people off.

I can understand its a signal boost for people and that is good but if someone decides they don't want their art on your page, just respect the person's wishes.

Just cause its more freely able to be distributed doesn't it make it right to go repost someone's artwork.

2. I told 100 time already - if someone dont wanna post their art - okey thats not a problem. But artworks we have had here were suggestions from artist and characters owners because they WANTED to be reposted.

Just heads up - once your stuff is posted on the internet expect it to show up on bot search engines or it being archived with that said. Yeah the rule is pointless and dumb.

People can get upset all they want and try to remove the artwork they posted 3 years ago. It will still end up on some gallery or archived site.

However where possible I still think that up and posting someone's art on your own page without permission or just doing that in general is something you should not do.

You didn't pay for it, you didn't draw it or are in it so you don't do that.

I know that people will still steal art like thieves and so on cause the net is full of people who are too lazy to find or buy their own creations but that doesn't mean we should let it go free reign where it can be controlled.

What is against policy when you have the agreement of the artist and / or the character owner(s) to post a drawing? I know it's not at all your falt, but... I'm rather sick of this policy. Next time, even when you pay for that, you couldn't post a drawing another artist made for you, I suppose?
Anyway... sad to learn this happens. I understand and wish to this group and to all the members who manage it a good continuation... even if the "group" FAdragons is probably very limited now in things to do.

I think you've probably misunderstood the policy.

The policy is "Created BY the account holder or FOR the account holder".

If FADragons creates art or a story, then FADragons can post it because it is BY the account holder.
If an artist draws art or writes a story specifically for FADragons, then FADragons can post it because it is FOR the account holder.

Otherwise it's just flooding with reposted artwork, which is what the admin in question was warning the account holder about.

I know that I've been a bit frustrated with the dozens of reposted artworks (many of which I have already seen, because I have the original artists OR the people the art was done for in my watch list) - but I wouldn't mind seeing art done of the FADragons mascot / new mascot ideas / art that is specifically done FOR FADragons being posted.

The problem is that FAdragon shouldn't be considered as a user, but as a group. By the way, if the artist or the character owner agree to let FAdragon posting his artwork, isn't that the drawing is in a way made for FAdragons, too?
An agreement means what an agreement means. If you say "yes" and have the rights to say "yes", then, this means a "yes". There's no "No because...".

The only thing that could be eventually discussed is when an artist draw something for someone else (with his agreement of course). Then, should we get the agreement of the artist AND of the person who asked for this drawing or is the agreement of just one of them enough?
I didn't officially take commissions yet, but as an artist, I draw something for someone, then, the someone in question recognizes I'm the artist, and as an artist, if nothing is discussed against this, I have the right to post it everywhere I want, even in a group. And of course, as the someone in question asked me and even (if that's a commission) payed me for this drawing, he can post it in his gallery and everywhere he wants too. He even can post it in a scat / WS or gore club, I don't care! Even if scat / WS / gore are not my kinks at all, he asked for the drawing, I agreed, so he can post it where he wants. The drawing is as well mine as well it's for himself.

And personally, I don't considere this as one of the many policies we could have, but as the only "moral" existing policy.

After, of course, the admins are the ones who manage FA, so they can choose the policy they want, but there's no moral or logic in this. I allowed FA to post one of my drawing, they were glad to post it, then, can someone explain me why, morally, this drawing is not there anymore?

Agreed with this. They dont have proper groups yet, and groups do repost artworks. Look at DA, for example.

I just don't understand it. It was ok for so much time, and now they want you to stop this? Makes no sense for me

I suppose that someone made a drawing for another member or get a drawing from an artist and wanted his drawing just for him and for the commissioner / artist and then cry to the admins this commissioner / artist authorized FAdragons to post the drawing. I knew an immature artist who would really be capable to do stupid things like this. That's no sense, but that unfortunately exists...

The policy does NOT stop someone who commissioned an artwork (or got a gift) from uploading that commission or gift, because it is FOR them.

However, it does stop people from posting artwork that is done BY someone else FOR someone else.

It is OK for FADragons to post art that the account holder of FADragons created.
It is OK for FADragons to post art done by someone else specifically for FADragons.
It is OK for members of FADragons to do art specifically for posting on FADragons.
It is not OK by the policy of the site for FADragons to repost art that isn't by them or for them.

Not quite sure what it would add, reposting "the site rules" (even in a simplified, easy to understand way) as a new journal. But yes, you do have my permission to do so if you think it will benefit the group.

Considering the IMVU thing, I'd go with the "it's happening" phylosophy.
Also I call it hypocrisy, and the staff is acussing the group of spam and art theft... While they're allowing IMVU to paywall stolen content in the form of posters or paintings for their crappy virtual chatrooms that as if it wasn't enough, they SELL.

A bit confusing for me, so if I draw a Draggie let's say random one from my mind, and ask you to repost it, it will be breaking the rules. But if I will add that it was done for you then its OK already? On one side its a good rule, but at some places its a bit strange. I have a feeling folks will start to cheat around this rule.

This is one of the reasons FA should make group accounts like DA has done, so this issue would never come up.

all i know is people do complain on this site. i had some one once draw me something and some one screamed to high heaven on my page and complained to an admin i was an art thief because it copied some ones art style. i was like one it was a gift drawn for me. two copying an art stlye is not being a thief.

perhaps instead of re-uploading images, what about making once-a-week journals with a list of links to the specific images on their respective owner's page? Record the links in a notepad file or something then copy-paste in a journal weekly and talk about the images as well, maybe.

Well this is sad, because of the reposts I watched more artist as a result of it, and what I liked from it. The issue I see is because these groups are not set up like the groups of other sites, where it is link set, and not a direct upload basis. Well that is the FA service such as it is.

As an artist, I think this shit is retarded. If I give permission for someone to post my work on their page, which I have with wincest and other people who have asked to celebrate the content of my work, wtf is the problem. I understand that there must be a compliance to the rules and I know what the rule is trying to stomp out... but it's a stupid fucking rule in its current form and needs to be tweaked.

It's because FA doesn't have proper groups, among a long list of other things.

FA has never had competent leadership in its entire history, it's the main reason this site has been eclipsed by DA, Weasyl, and others.
