The First Mate on this airship is a delegator for the captain, in addition to being the navigator. They are responsible for giving work assignments to the Quartermaster and Chief Engineer, but can usually be found at the helm, guiding the airship to its next destination. The First Mate is hand-selected by the captain, and is someone in whom the captain has great trust. If the captain should die, the First Mate is the one who will take the role as captain. Because of this, they must be a good leader and have a fair amount of expertise in many areas.
