Deck hands share the same rank as assistant engineers. They work on the deck and hull of the airship. Their jobs include repair and maintenance of the rigging and hull. They take their instructions from the Quartermaster. Every week, one of the deck hands is assigned to work in the galley with the cook, forgoing their deck duties for that week. Deck hands are paid at a flat monthly rate, except for bonuses on special occasions. Any deck hand can be elected to the rank of Quartermaster.
