Saying hi!
10 years ago
I'm new to FA, and to the furry culture generally, so I figured I'd say hi and introduce myself a bit here~
Hi!
Offline, my name is Baz, I live in the Midlands in the UK, and I'm pansexual and male-leaning genderfluid. I work in an office near Birmingham, and while my official job title is "Office Administrator," in practice my role involves everything from admin to project management to IT support to CAD work to PA to the Office Manager. In short, I'm perpetually busy! I also have a 1:1 BSc in AI and Robotics, which was a lot of work but a lot of fun~
I keep pet rats, I'm a cosplayer (hopefully a future fursuiter!), I enjoy playing Go (badly), I'm a pretty good cook, I have an amateur interest in gemstones and I love learning about sciences and history. Travelling to new places also rates among my favourite things ever!
My fursona is called Scirus ("Shirrus"), he's a rat with 'squirrel' colouration (silver-blue fur with a white belly and face), he loves mechatronic stuff and is a big fan of meat dishes. He's still very new, so I'm learning more about him as I go along!
Since you're here, how about you guys? Or your fursonas? Who are you, how are you, what do you do? <3

FA+

I'm a cashier at rite aid (a drug pharmacy) over in USA. I'm a genderfluid pansexual trans*male. I currently own about 18 rats, atm, I think. I'm obsessed. xD My fursona is a black and white essex dumbo rat boy, obv. ;3 Uhm.. yeah x3 I love punky music, electronic.. and everything almost in between. :3
Also your fursona is such a cutie omg ;3;
It does get overwhelming sometimes but all I do, when I'm away from the computer is just hang out with all of them so I'm fine with it ^_^ I love them <3 When they all end up passing away, I'm not getting as many though. Probably a boy and a girl to breed and have them keep some of their children as cagemates.
I love Punk/Ska/Black Metal/Horrorcore Rap/Electronic/Industrial the best for my music tastes c:
And nice mix of stuff there! :3 I've been leaning towards heavier stuff lately, but then I've just come off a big Vocaloids kick and it was tanzmetall before that, so my tastes are all over the shop XD
same ^u^ lately though, ive been listening to irish pub/medieval sounding music. like lotr/the hobbit soundtracks and some other random stuff ^-^
Foxtrooper looks really cool! That's cool that you're writing a story; I used to write way back, but I've hit a horrible rut with it =3= I hope it's going well for you! :D
I think 80's music was simultaneously brilliant and ridiculous - so of course I love it XD I think disco's one of those genres where I never think to say that I'm into it, but when people start listing songs/artists I end up like "Well, of course I like that one... well yeah, that's a classic... yeah, that one's good! I like that too~" so I guess I am? ^^;
I had to write the message 5 times. 4 Web page errors in a row.
(Pfffft - ain't technology wonderful?)
One thing I remember most of my old fish tank was the fiddler crabs. They kept attempting to escape the tank and they had a good escape route too, they climbed one of the plants and swam (if you could call it that they kinda moved thier legs out and flailed.) To the filter. I saw one with its legs outside of the tank but manged to knock it back In.
You "unfortunately" cought my alt account, which is not properly clean, so yeah, sorry for that. It was created as a mere fetish account so the choice of this character species and features were pretty random, but i ended up getting fond of him, even more than my main fursona! Therefore i might decide this will be my actual interface with the fandom.
I like computers and dealing with electronics, i love hiking in the mountains (even though i haven't been doing that since last year) and i sometimes like watching/reading sci-fi and fantasy movies/novels.
Got three pets at the moment [yeah you're always eager for more but pets are demanding :<], an australian shepherd, a cat and a ball python. I'd love to be able to keep some rats too, but i don't really have the chance. Also - since people keep asking for that - me wanting to keep rats is not in any way related to the fact i have a snake.
The furry fandom is a mess, you need to be a good swimmer in order not to drown in it =D
You probably guessed from my intro that I'm into computers/electronics/mechatronics too, and I'm actually going on a big hike in about 2 weeks! Me and some guys at work are doing the National 3 Peak Challenge (climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, in England and in Wales in 24hrs) for charity, which is gonna be... interesting XD; None of us are experienced climbers or anything, so I think there's gonna be some pain the day(s) after ^^; I really enjoy fantasy novels too, though I've not read anywhere near as many as I'd like.
That's a lovely mix of pets! ;w; My flatmates have a ball python, they're so pretty but so dumb XD We have 3 snakes, 7 rats and a hamster between us - and yeah, we always get the "Why are you keeping rats and snakes together?" thing too =3= Like, we don't keep them in the same cage, you know....?
I find it's more of a long, winding path. A very sticky, messy path...
Yep! I noticed about that of course. The IT is an amazingly interesting sector, yet very hard to be dealt with. I'm not sure i'll want to be an engineer, but it's too late to step back now. We'll see what happens, you never know what future deserves you :)
And whooh! I don't really know that place where the hike is gonna be in, i made a quick Google search and it seems to be wonderful! Is that a real climb or there's a trail you can follow by walking? I'm not a climber, did that a few times on very easy cliffs but i rather feel the ground beneath my feet!
I'd love to come to the UK and travel through one of the many trails over there. I heard that there are plenty of those!
Our mountains are usually higher than yours i guess [i see the highest is around 1350m MSL, whilst the peaks in my area range from ~1000 to ~3000m MSL] but Scotland's landscape resembles that one we only see at higher altitudes .) It's kind of beautiful!
I'm currently reading 'a song of ice and fire' by George Martin, seems to be a good novel, even though i'll take a break after i'm done with the second book since i want to read some sci-fi and furry novels before going on with the series. Moreover last two books of that series are still missing, so it'll be a pain having to wait for them to be released XD
Yeah, ball pythons are sooo cute, yet they seem to be dumb XD When i try to feed mine he always seems to be SO scared. He likes to slither around in his vivarium, but when he notices i'm staring at him he suddenly becomes still, then he steps back probably thinking "human is looking at me, human is looking at me, omg human is looking at me, panic - yoouh!!! Filthy human!! Don't you dare get any clossssssser!!". He always makes me laugh. I think he's about to shed since he has been hiding for three days now.
Three snakes! I thought they weren't so widespread when i got mine! Which species do yours belong to?
Yeah i made the mistake of gathering information about rats from a friend after telling her i had gotten a snake XD She got pretty angry even though i had no intention of adopting her pets for the purpose of feeding mine aha.
I find it's more of a long, winding path. A very sticky, messy path...
That could lead to different interpretations XD please explain yours :)
For our climbs, Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Snowdon (Wales) have got paths (though they're a bit dubious in places), but Scafell Pike (England) is very steep and a lot of the climb/hike is scree and outcrops, apparently. None of us are regular walkers/climbers, so we'll be taking the easy paths, the 24hr challenge is hard enough as it is XD;;
(Also, fun fact: I'm the only one in the group who can follow an OS map properly, and I'm the only registered first aider - I'm fully expecting fate to target me viciously XD )
I've not read those, but I've been following GoT on TV, and they're definitely on my list! The books always do it better ;) 'Arrows of the Sun' by Judith Tarr is a strong contender for my favourite fantasy book, though my favourite fantasy author is probably Terry Pratchett - very much a mainstream nomination, but screw that, he's good!
They've got a ball python called Loki, an albino (I think!) corn snake called Ceredwyn, and a baby western hognose called Noodle. Noodle's the cutest little thing! One of them has a snake wish-list about a mile long, but I can't blame him, they're gorgeous animals ♥
(And the interpretation you have in mind is probably the right one XD; )
Ohhh, scree! Those are fun but demanding. Just make sure you don't lose the path! (Even though it shouldn't be a problem since there's usually just one direction you can follow =D).
I've never attended a 24h challenge. I usually like to take it easy. I've done a 5 days hiking last summer, every day we walked from an hut to another. It was very fun and rewarding, but we were exhausted every day. To go from an hut to another you always had to cross a mountain pass, so everytime up and down, sometimes more than once :) and as if that was not enough, we had all the required equipment allowing us to be (almost) totally independent. We had tents, freeze-dried food, stoves, pans, mats and sleeping bags. The result was an amazingly heavy backpack XD That didn't help at all. But as i said it was very fun :) Let's hope i can do something similar this summer!
Hope you'll be taking pictures of your hike!! And... you should definitely train a bit before leaving for that !
Oh come on XD Don't be so pessimist, you'll be fine! Just take care along the path. What's an OS map?
I really suggest you to give that series a try. It was slightly boring in the beginning, and there are PLENTY (a few hundreds? XD) of names, a lot of which are very similar eachother, so it's a bit hard to understand who's doing what and why, but you get used to it. As i approach the 2nd novel ending, things have gotten very exciting yet sad.
I'll watch the TV series after i read all the books :)
I don't know the books and authors you mentioned, but i'll give those a look! It'll be a bit hard for me to read those in your language though, still practicing with easier novels, but who knows.
Loki :) Ahhh! I would love to have an albino python, they look so...beautiful! I preferred the ball python over a corn snake due to the BP thickness. Corn snakes are longer but thinner i guess, whilst ball pythons have an average length but they're way girthier <3 which is something always appreciated.
I just looked up at what hognose are...i agree with you, those are super cute!! I heard about those already, but i wanted a bigger pet. And yeah XD I'd love to have more snakes but as i said i fear they'd be too demanding together with dog and cat.
I'd love to get a Boa Constrictor Imperator, but i think i'd be instantly kicked out of this place XD
Well i always try not to go straight THERE XD but it's your fault this time!
I guess you're right anyway. That is, but the topic would require to be explored thoroughly.
As for that running-towards-the-moth-with-spread-muzzle thing, i bet it..has..been..weird XD I'd have screamed like a silly girl if i were at your place ahahaha :)
[sorry, copied and pasted the message since i put it in the wrong place.]
I'm really enjoying it here so far! So friendly and everything =w=
Tbh I'm just blown away by how many awesome artists are on this site, I spend pretty much every visit all star-struck!
