Brb going to the hospital

I knew I was going to pass out the moment I got home. I didn't expect to sleep for nearly a day.
-Warning: Gross implications ahead. Do not read unless you are REALLY INTERESTED OR WANT TO CHUCKLE AT MY MISFORTUNE-
Because of the heat, sweat, exotic foods (Taco Bell, shut up), and etc I've actually been fighting two possible conditions that I would need to see a doctor for. Nothing serious. Just things that could have been (or may still be in the future) had I not took particular care of them. I will spare you the details but the first issue kind of resolved itself on the last leg of the trip. Another made itself known on the last few days and literally came to a head on my day back.
Well... yesterday when I finally did get my ass out of bed I went to my local phone carrier to get a new phone and then to the grocery store to pick up a few things, including some gauze, medical tape, and towels to act as a heated compress to treat this new issue. Never had it before. Didn't know what to expect. Apparently I should have done something about it sooner... because as I was consulting the pharmacist on a dry reusable compress vs wet washable compresses (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) blood puss started pouring out of the inflamed site mid conversation and whatever it started as (most likely ingrown hair or spider bite) is now a true-blue infection now rolling down my leg.
...
Well that does explain while I felt extra tired. It's not like I went without sleep this entire time... ugh. Never had something this gross/ sudden happen to me before. Especially something that might take weeks to heal.
It shouldn't get in the way of anything. I'm still drawing and whatnot. I just have this gross thing that I might take a picture of to contend with for now.

Only one cure, draw more butts!
*sunshine*
Staph isnt something to take lightly. i had it on my chest last year, and let it go for to long before going to a doctor, and it made it hard to breath, couldnt sleep, was nauseous and had a fever.
It's that.
but I know some people dont like going to the doctor, for various reasons, so as long as your keeping it clean, you should be fine.
however, peroxid actually dosnt do shit. it just bubbles to push small things out of the skin. it has NO disinfecting powers at all. i suggest just warm water and plain, no scent soap around the area.
Had no clue peroxide was useless for disinfecting though. Good thing it isn't the only thing I've been using. I just use peroxide the moment I switch to a fresh dressing in lieu of water since my particular bottle has a squirt cap and it's more convenient that way.
Whatever you do, take care of yourself, as this sounds painful and in general extremely unpleasant.
I hope it gets taken care of and healing soon!. Wounds are never fun to mess around with when they're infected.
Hope your hospital trip isn't too unpleasant or costly!
I got bit by some variety of widow once, no abscess but I did feel achy, tired, and out of sorts for a month (think flu symptoms kinda).
Have had cats that got abscesses, one from being shot with an airsoft gun even!
Infection of a hair follicle. Typically via Staph bacteria. Should go away on its own once it has started the draining process. If not, bug the Doc and they may lance it. Should go without saying to keep the area cleaned as well as your hands if you're changing out the dressings.
People seem to have good advice... buuuut I'd 100% always go to the doctor, because I feel my leg would be worth the $X. I'd be worried it's something like gangrene or staph, which needs to be treated pretty quickly.
I doubt it's a spider bite... unless you actually saw it happening, it could be pretty much anything — skin is bizarro like that. I hope you get treatment soon, and I'm sure it'll heal right up before you know it! :)
Also... in the case of a dog I treated once, giant fluid sac from an infected spiderbite. Leg was swollen up to 3x its normal size with fluid... it ruptured a little while later, drained what we could, flushed it and put a couple of tubes in to keep flushing till it healed. The dog was to sick from the bite for us to put it under without risking it, so the rupture and self draining was exactly what was needed.
Aybe I just get lucky and see all the gross spider bites.
You got my number and email and skype.
Will be praying for you, bro.
I had a friend accidentally rip out his prince albert piercing on khakis and not notice till he was a pint of blood down and his pants were red..
blood running down your leg is terrifying dude!! please let us know how it goes.
feel better!
(Was not THAT grose, this is the internet after all. But then again, i'm me, and me is usually not a good representative for the human population as a whole, wheter good or bad. lel.)
Hope you're ok ;~;
