I Got the Studio, But Need Financial Help More Than Ever!
For the TL;DR version, please scroll to the bottom. But to get all the details, please read all of this.
Just as the title says. I went straight to the realtor's office after I got off work (I opened at work today) and was told that I was approved for it. However, due to my credit history, that approval came with some strings attached. For one, they still need to verify my employment, which I'm not worried about since it's a given. They also still need to verify my rental history from my current landlord, again a given as I know I'm good for it. But the real condition is I have to pay the full security deposit up front; no installments accepted. But at this point, I was so grateful and relieved to even have a chance to actually get it that I accepted without hesitation. But to make matters a bit easier, they did offer to have me move in the middle of June, so I would only have to pay half a month's rent to start. If nothing else, it'll make getting the process started easier.
Anyway, while I'm finally through the worst of it as far as knowing I have a place to go to, I'm not entirely out of the woods yet. As I mentioned, my employment and rental history still has to be verified and I'll need to make sure that I can pay the security deposit on top of the first (half-month's) rent. And then there's the lingering other bills that I still gotta pay. Even though I may have gotten a place to live, my money is still going to be extremely tight. Unfortunately, this means that as of the end of this month, I plan to drop my internet until further notice. That bill alone is $63 a month right now, which even if I drop internet now, it's still owed. I only just accepted an offer for $50 a month, but it's still significant. I'll still have to pay whatever amount based on how far into the billing cycle I've already gone, but after that my only link to the internet will be through my phone and any public wifi sources. I'll have to get an app to secure those public sources whenever I use them.
In fact, as rough as this will probably be for me, I'm going to be dropping ALL non-essential expenses while also doing my best to cut my food budget as well to stuff that'll still fill me up, but will probably not be high on taste. In short, it's nevertheless going to be a rocky month for me. So while I can breathe easy; while I did say that I'll feel better once I get approved, I realize now that I'll TRULY feel better once I actually sign that new lease. But the property manager assures me that I'll get it as long as my rental history and employment is confirmed and I can pay the security deposit.
So this is where the "Need Help More Than Ever!" comes in. The problem, however, is that I recently closed my Paypal account. Like a lot of people, I ended up being quite spooked over that $2500 fine that they're threatening people with, while being kinda vague about just what would invoke it. Now I even more recently read a journal from someone who claimed to have talked directly to a Paypal staff member, who said that paying for services using the gift option, while still frowned upon, is not one of those issues that would warrant the fine. Using the "for goods and services" option gives a person buyer's protection in case a transaction goes awry. Sending as a gift won't cover that, and you're basically screwed if the other person decided not to honor that transaction with the "product".
This means that even if I did reopen my Paypal account, I would have to go through the verification process all over again. And even though there's assurances that the average person won't ever have to worry about seeing this fine, unless you're using Paypal for outright illegal activities such as dealing drugs, narcotics, and such, I feel like they just can't be trusted anymore on principle. If they were at least more specific on just what would warrant that fine, I'd probably have kept it. But with they way they keep it as vague as they are...I don't trust them on principle. Maybe I'm making this harder on me, I dunno.
Anyway, I'm going to open a small P.O. Box tomorrow for sending money orders or checks. Yes, I'm doing this the old fashioned way. And yes, I understand there's more time involved when sending money. I also have a Western Union account, but that costs at least $5 to send money. So whatever amount anyone may wish to send me would need to subtract $5 from the intended amount to cover the fee. But otherwise, I'd just as soon go with the PO Box route. For the sake of privacy and security, I'd rather not give out my home address. I also don't want to post the PO Box address openly in this journal. Nothing personal or anything, as I'm sure most of you would do the same thing in my position.
I'm asking for any possible emergency financial aide anyone can possibly provide. It may seem like I'm ok now, but on top of coming up with essentially $1345 by the end of June (half a month for June, the security deposit, and the start of July)(I absolutely HAVE to be out of my current place by the end of June), I also currently have:
1. $80 electric bill, plus a possible security deposit I'll likely have to pay upon transfering it to my name. I've left it in my ex's name to avoid having to pay said security deposit, which tends to happen with new people, even spouses. But upon moving, I'll have to transfer it in my name. And then there's the next electric bill, which will crop up around the middle of June. With the increasingly hot weather, the bill amount has been going up accordingly due to having to run the AC more to keep from cooking in here.
2. $63 internet bill. I'm dropping home internet at the end of the month, so my online presence will be even less than before. This one IS in my name, but it's a moot point. I still gotta pay it to keep going.
3. $130 car payment. It's actually a family debt, since my mother helped me buy the car that gets me to work and back. Unfortunately, while she let me delay my next payment til the following paycheck in June, she absolutely won't let me skip a single payment. I can't even live with her as an option. While I can relate to not living there (I don't exactly get along well with my stepdad), it really shook me up that I can't even rely on my own mother for avoiding homelessness. And even though I am approved for this studio and no longer HAVE to ask to live with her, that's beside the point. I'm on my own, basically.
4. $40 phone bill
5. $40 car insurance bill
6. $30 medical insurance
7. $200 food, gas, and pretty much everything else not listed.
So all in all, all of this rounds up to about $1970 that I HAVE to come up with by the end of June to be able to fully transition to the new apartment. And I'm still not 100% certain that's completely everything. I don't know exactly how much my next three paychecks will be. But I DO know they won't be enough to completely cover all this without outside assistance. Bottom line is I need help badly! I don't make this plea lightly. I also understand that I've made this more difficult for myself by closing Paypal, which most of you would preferably use over anything else. But with the things I've heard about Paypal suspending accounts over too many 'gifts' or what not, the last thing I would want is any financial help I get being cut off from me by Paypal over some bogus suspision they may have over such acitivity.
I understand that many of you would probably say that you "wish I could help, but I'm broke right now". I'm not asking for a lot. Even if each of you sends just a small amount that surely you can spare, it will all add up. But the bottom line is, I'm doing everything I can to ease the burden on my end by preparing to rough it hard over the next month without home internet, no eating out AT ALL, driving around as little as possible, using as little electricity as possible, cutting my food expenses as low as I possibly can, and any other ways of cutting costs.
So if anyone is able to help out, please send me a note. I'm going to set up a small P.O. Box tomorrow (Friday). Whoever is able to send any money, let me know via note and I'll give you the PO Box mailing address privately in said note. If you prefer to send money via Western Union, they charge a minimum of $5 if sent from a bank account. So any amount you are able to send, subtract $5 from that intended amount and I'll consider the fee covered by me. I'm sure many of you would just do it via snail mail anyway. I'd recommend not sending money as cash, but rather as a money order or check. I'll give you all the necessary information once you note me, including my name and the PO Box address.
If you simply cannot help financially, then at the very least post a signal boost journal pointing people to this one. Even if you just help spread the word, it'll helo out a lot. I'm prepared to do stories for anyone who sends me any money if they'd like me to. I know it's not much, but it's the least I can do besides expressing gratitude. But all in all, while I have a new home lined up, I'm not out of the woods yet.
TL;DR - I got approved for a new home pending confirmation of my employment and good rental history. However, to cover all necessary expenses, I'll need to come up with $1970 by the end of June. My paychecks between now and June 26th should cover about three quarters of it, but I'll still need outside help to cover the rest. I'm setting up a PO Box for sending money orders or checks to me via snail mail, since I closed my Paypal account on principle due to the vagueness of what their $2500 fine covers, despite assurances it's only against people who perform highly illegal activities. Please note me if you can send any amount of money, no matter how big or small. I'll provide all the necessary information from there. If you absolutely cannot help financially, then at least consider posting a signal boost journal letting other people know about this.

1) How much of your security deposit for your old apartment are you getting back, and when?
2) Do you get paid every week or every other week?
3) What about the address you noted me, will that still work?
I can help out, I would just like a better idea of your situation from those questions. Hopefully you won't get too many stupid "I can't help out lol" comments, those are certainly annoying and unneeded around this time. ^^;
2) Every two weeks.
3) Yes. I won't be moving til mid-June.
And yes, I had made it clear that I understand that not everyone can help out. I don't expect anyone to feel they have to justify not being able to help. If they can't, then no need to even speak up about it. It's not like I'm going to contact everyone on my watch list and accuse them of holding out on me. I'm grateful for any help I get, plain and simple. Otherwise, just a signal boost will do. Surely, more people than not could take a minute to post a journal making more people aware of my situation; and that doesn't cost a thing except a couple minutes of their time.
I'm not going to open the PO Box unless I get at least a few offers. Otherwise, I'd just be wasting time with it.
