Is white and black gorilla/monkey fur really back?!!

Part me actually hopes not because I paid up to $80 a yard from other crafters to have what I have in stock...
but if course part of me is happy to see it back.... IF it is really back.

is back in black too

THING IS in the past people thought it was back only to find the new supply had a strange crimped texture.

So I will believe it when I see it.

Samples have been ordered.

If it is the right stuff I am slamming like 3 yards of each straight into my hoard.

Looks pretty nice from the photo... Can't always tell though.

Though I'm no expert... I've only ever cannibalized faux fur off of kitschy throw pillows and coats before... XD Real Halloween costume quality right dere.

I wouldn't even trust them to give you the right samples, knowing their customer service. I buy from them a lot but they aren't super easy to work with on problems and swatches, etc. Plus their pictures of the black and white are the same photo as their pic of the blue but with the colours changed in photoshop. Colour me skeptical and then some.

oh I am very much in the same boat, even if their customer service were top notch I would still be skeptical of this fur really being back int he quality we need it in.

BigZ claims that the white is back to normal but the black is still messed up... so there's a chance on the white

the samples looked fine so I took the risk of ordering knowing they have screwed up in the past...

I have a perfect 3 yards each of black and white in my hands ;w; it is back after all!!

*glares at what remains of what I paid $80 for, yeesh I was so desperate

Wow, thanks for the update! Customer service guy seriously told me a few days ago that the black was still funky. Oy.

They have it on DF too. I'm debating getting some to check since I need some long fur too.
AJ (AutumnFallings) got some, but she got it from the fabric district.

Big Z just calls it gorilla shag. After the black and white vanished I got the blue, pink and purple from them for my hoard and it is the same as the white and black monkey shag I got elsewhere.

That kind of Gorilla sucks, avoid gorilla from la. Get monkey shag it's the straight stuff. Gorilla is the kinked coarse kind. Also, gorilla on fabric. Com is what I think Mendels calls party monster which is a super long version of lux shag sorta

U wouldn't get my hopes up. I ordered the black, and it's thick and likes to crimp similar to mongolian. And it almost has a greasy texture, and loves to clump. It's terrible, and I really don't like it. I wasted a decent chunk of money on what I got, just to never use it.

Darlin there's two ideas. There's the party monster from Mendels (not as long, it's a 3 inch shag) in a large amount of colors, or snag some of the black Flokati when FursuitSupplies.com gets it in :3 everyone that's been on a lookout for monkeyshag has yet to find it.

Let us know the verdict! Im still looking for 4" long black and white fur for an extra flooffy suit. Lol prefer it to be less crimped than mongolian which ive used before when no other options arise. I hate the loosely threaded backing on it honestly, the white mongolian specifically was thin-backed and you can see the backing thru the hair.. A sign of poor quality.

Im hoping monkey shag is better.

monkey shag is set like hair plugs in mesh, so the backing is very loose but that is why it looks as floofy as it is, and the backing being mesh means it breaths SO WELL (but DO NOT try to trim it at all, it needs to stay long or it looks like crap)

Does it need extra support on the backing if it will be used on places like the neck, chest or tail of a suit to help it survive multiple washings over the years? If so, what would you suggest?

I have only used it in said areas and for lower arms and limbs, with no added backing, and so far so good.

Nice! Can't wait to know if thats the same stuff :D Would love to try it!
From the looks of it, they also sell it in purple and blue! I'll get a sample of the purple to get the idea of it.
