Crystal Critter Species Information

Guess what? There's another species! :D These ones are called Crystal Critters, and are also owned by myself and
RainbowPotato ! These ones are a bit finicky compared to the Digital Dragons in terms of their closed/open status, so wait to the very end and that'll be explained
When a creature dies next to gems/crystals their souls and bodies merge together with the crystals and then are reborn. This process can take seconds to millions of years. If 2 creatures die at the same spot they can both be merged into 1 creature kinda a hybrid. This can also happen so humans. These creatures are hunted for their crystals/gems or as trophies, floor carpets/rugs, fur coats or as exotic pets for rich people. These creatures can be dangerous to hunt as they have magical powers, the longer it took them to get reborn the stronger their magic is. They're kind creatures who will happily give away crystals to people who needs them. Some people place gems/crystals around their dead pets so they can get reborn. If you have a pure heart your pet will get reborn in a short time period. These creatures are most common in cold places or swamp areas because their bodies would be well preserved. In places where their bodies wouldn't be as well preserved they could get reborn as zombie looking creatures or skeleton creatures with crystals. All these creatures will remember everything from their past life (before they died and were reborn), except hybrids.
Crystal colors affects abilities/personality. Sapphires have water/ice power, Rubies fire/rage (Blood if the creature was evil in its past life), Emeralds have venom, dark crystals create more vicious, angry spikes and temperaments while lighter ones create smoother, rounded stones on the body and friendlier attitudes. There are more but this is a small list of the more common ones, and other gems which are more rare tend to have more varied abilities. Will you be the first to discover what a rare crystal's powers are?
There are levels of Crystal Critters. Stage 1 contains only 1 Gem and can be a hybrid of creatures. Stage 2 contains 2 Gems and are rarely hybrids. Stage 3 contains 3 Gems and are only "pure" creatures, meaning no hybrids. Begin the explanation:
Stage 1:
1 Gem, hybrids are allowed. These are the lowest rank of Crystal Critters, and contain 1 Gem. These ones vary the most in terms of their powers and types, as they are the most common and easy to obtain/create. While they do not have the powers of their higher stages, their numbers and possibilities heavily out-do their stronger counterparts, though without massive numbers a Stage 2 and/or Stage 3 usually stand a better chance in a fight.
Stage 2:
2 Gems, hybrids rare. The middle-men (and women and transvestites and herms and...) of the Crystal Critters world, these are made through repeatedly dying and entering a crystal. Once they have been in a crystal long enough, they will hold that crystal's powers and some abilities from them, and have the chance to gain a secondary crystal alongside their main one by dying nearby the same type of crystal repeatedly. They MUST be the same type of gem, though not necessarily the same gemstone (as they would only be treated as the same one). They are rare, but still have plenty of numbers and the hybrids tend to be stronger though not as intelligent. This is because hybrid bodies do not have the strength mentally due to the 2 creatures fighting for control over the body. It can take many, many decades worth of time in the crystals to create the necessary bond to allow a second one to obtain a foothold in the species.
Stage 3:
3 Gems, no hybrids have survived, only pures. The highest class of Crystal Critters, these are ones who have been located in their respective gemstones for thousands or even millions of years FOR EACH GEM. They are rare and powerful, and due to having 3 gems within their bodies the power is too great for a hybrid's genetic makeup to handle. They are incredibly intelligent and powerful, and due to their repeated gemstones being integrated into their bodies are incredibly hard to kill even with their own powers. Similar to Stage 2, the process for obtaining Stage 3 powers is not complicated but incredibly time consuming. The creatures must stay in their main gem, the first one, for about a millenia before the gem has been stuck to the genetic make up of the creature. Once that has been done, a new crystal can be introduced to create a Stage 2. After several thousand years worth of time in the gemstone, whether it be one gemstone or overlapping ones, until the chance of becoming Stage 3 is available. The process takes many, many deaths before the full Stage is completed, making Stage 3's very unwilling to kill creatures due to their own experience with death over and over and over. However, they themselves do not fear death due to their strength and repeated facings with the Reaper.
***Note***
There is a current Reference Sheet for the species but it is not done yet, stay tuned for that!
***Note***
Anthros are NOT hybrids. They are not a combination of Human and Animal. HOWEVER, Humans with animal traits and vice versa ARE considered hybrids. This is important to Stage 2 Crystal Critters and IMPERATIVE when creating Stage 3 ones.
***Note***
If a Stage 3 somehow reaches a point of being able to obtain a 4th gem repeatedly and dying near it, the weakest gem will be removed from the body's genetics. This is usually the most recent one they have, but can be other's if death has occurred enough to increase the more recent gem's power over the others
Availability:
This is the tricky bit. Each stage is more rare than the last, and each one has a different availability in terms of Open or Closed.
1st Stage:
Open Fully, anyone can create one at anytime, all that is asked is that you give credit to
RainbowPotato and
MidnightAegis as the owners of the species.
2nd Stage:
Partially Open, anyone can create a 2nd stage but they must be approved by either myself or Rainbow. Credit stays the same.
3rd Stage:
Closed, you MUST get permission from me or Rainbow to create this rank of species. Most likely this will mean having Rainbow create it, though if you have gotten permission from me or Rainbow to have another artist create it or yourself that is fine. Artists, if you get a request to create a 3rd Stage please check with either me or Rainbow, depending on who the requester said ok'd the creature. If you are found violating this rule you will not be allowed to create a 3rd Stage unless otherwise decided by me and/or Rainbow, and Stage 2 will be harder to obtain. Stage 1 will remain open as usual. Credit is same as 1st and 2nd Stages
Current Owners:
One is owned by
RainbowPotato http://i.imgur.com/cqjYllJ.png no name currently and is a hybrid, making it a 1st Stage
I own one as well http://d.facdn.net/art/rainbowpotat.....nightaegis.png a 3rd stage with no name

I love it ^^ you two are a great duo :D
I like many species but most of them are closed and without enough money its difficult to get an official species (like the foxfans on deviantart, so adorable but so expensive (they can be bought for over 300$ in one auction o.o))
I think you can see how popular a species is from the price people are paying to get one :D
450$ is more then i get paid in one month
