Update on Skipper
General
It's been nearly a week now since Skipper was diagnosed with insulinoma. I've been having to force feed him some home made duck soup by a syringe because he won't eat on his own...or rather he tries, but it almost seems like he can't. He picks his food up and brings it to his litter box and leaves it there then walk away?? I dunno. His behavior in general has changed, but I know it's all just because he doesn't feel good. I was told once his blood glucose level stabilizes, he's be acting normal again. I'm trying like heck, but I can't help but feel like I'm doing something wrong.
He's been coming to work with me lately, to make sure he eats and takes his meds. He sleeps in a crate in the office. The other day was so cute. He seemed to be perking up a bit, so I took him out to let him stretch his legs a bit and brought him up to work the register with me. EVERY person just about in the check out line FREAKED out over him! And he was soaking up every last drop of the attention. He was on the check out counter, rolling around on his back, yawning and stretching while everyone in the line went "AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!" XD He's such a little show off! Good to see that's one thing that hasn't changed. Then at one point while I was holding him, he curled into a ball and went to sleep, literally hugging my arm, to which he got even more "AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!"s from the people in the check out line. THEN I had to put him down for a second, because I needed both my hands, and he turned and looked up at me like "Hey! What gives!?" and immediately started climbing up my chest, onto my shoulder slunk around my neck like a scarf and fell asleep. To which every in line went "AAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!" XD One lady, who had come off on the wrong foot with ferrets (I guess her friend's ferret had mauled her hand a few years ago, and she had the scars to prove it), was blown away when Skipper gently licked her hand and rubbed his head against her like a cat. She said she HATED ferrets, but he was the only she actually liked and that she had no clue that ferrets coule be like that. I told her that, like a cat or a dog, if a ferret is brought up right, they love people.
Skipper received lots of pets and hugs from people, and while I'm sure he was still feeling crappy, I think it cheered him up. He seemed happier when we left to go home.
I'm returning to the vets office on the 16th for a check up and to discuss surgery. I'm not sure at this point what to do about the surgery, because I'm hearing so many different things from different people. I'm hearing not to bother because it's a waste of time and money and the tumors will just come back, and then I'm hearing I definatly need to do it and that it's his best option for treatment. I guess the wise thing to do is discuss it with my vet and see what she recommends and what the likely hood of the tumors coming back is.

Hang in there Skipper!
My ferret had melanosarcoma, not an insulinoma, so I don't have any info to offer beyond what Google can tell you. I hope Skipper pulls through.
