it's also one of the best shows to sit around and harpoon with friends, all the best shows ever made are like that

That should be a battle roar for a war band. And yeah that american version is such the joke - the ingredients aren't very experimental or creative at all and Bobby Flay is a one trick pony.

Bobby Flay can fucking blow me. He's my least favorite celebrity chef EVER.

Ho ho, remember that first America vs. Japan Iron Chef with Morimoto and Flay? Remember how he got up and danced on his cutting board, and all the Japanese people were horrified and offended? That was pretty awesome.

i kind of like the american show too, it's pretty much a different show entirely
i like how it gets right to the cooking without the pomp of the japanese version, even though the pomp is part of what i like about the japanese show.
it's like comparing tofu and tempeh, pretty much the same but also really different

Alton Brown and Takeshi Kaga could not be any more different. (Fun wiki fact, Kaga did the voice for Golbez in the FFIV remake, thanks internet!)

But yeah, the pomp's kinda my favorite part of the show, which is why I prefer the original. That, and stuff like squid ice cream.


Oh also, any word if this torrent has sub or dub Kaga?

Watched through like 10 episodes; it's mix and match. Some of the episodes are higher quality than others, and some have sub/dub kaga.

Yeah dude, this show is amazing especially if you're interested in food. I used to watch this at dinnertime every day back at home.

Iron Chef in concept is good, but the American version is boring. It is the Japanese version, with the great dub and cute characters(ah god that little chubby reporter) and manic pace, that is pure gold. I gotta get a few of these XD

Yeah totally, the "acting" in the Japanese one is great, and the american announcer does not come close to reproducing the mystique and eccentric personality of Chairman Kaga.

although, they play the American ingredient reveals on the Soup, and it would be pretty entertaining to just watch a half hour of dramatic food names.

I hate that the ingredients are never as interesting on the American version. Not to mention that ridiculous episode where it was all "Today's ingredient is... BREAKFAST!!!!"

And Alton Brown was just like "um, well breakfast isn't really an ingredient but this isn't my show so I guess it's fine!"

It was a running gag for a while on the Soup, whenever there was a new episode they'd show the ingredient reveal, so lots of episodes. lol wtf 'breakfast'? way to be lazy

the Japanese chefs are always so versatile and whip up types of food i never knew existed, but the Americans.. bleh

Haha well "battle breakfast" = bacon, eggs and ham for ingredients.


And then both chefs made like 5 dishes. Talk about trying to give the judges a heartattack. Not everyone is Michael Phelps.
