TGIF Aug. 7th Paw-Mail/Journal!
Thank you to all for the Watches, Favourites and great comments!
*growf*Ooof... so um, yes, as per the FA journal, last night was a bit rough. I had already been up a long time due to Thursdays being one of our early morning change-days, and only had about 2 hours sleep when the pager went off and I had to go into the office. I got home 4am, and was in bed around.... 4:30am-ish. So been feeling a bit off and tired today. Gettin' too old for late-night crap like that! (and yet sadly I'm the youngest guy on the team, lol). Anyway, I'm very sorry for how late this was today, but I really didn't have time to work on it until the day was nearly over. Thank goodness I'm not on-call again until October.
Choosing a better name for the Paw-mail seems to have had most folks happy with "Paw-Post", which I think is pretty catchy and a bit more fitting since it makes sense for both mail and journals, or even potentially future blogs or whatever. So starting Tuesday, I'll just start calling it that. :) Thank you all for your thoughts on it - plenty of people mentioned something either publicly or privately to me.
Open For Commissions
YaioFairy: (info - https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6947368/) Awesome artist who tends to feature paws in his work almost constantly! Very, very nice ones at that.
Tartii: (info - http://www.deviantart.com/journal/C.....ions-551542390) Tartii is opening up commissions via DeviantArt to see if there are any takers (she's closed on FA), so if you missed her quick open/close on FA, go snag one there! Very talented lady who often does paws in her work.
ChokoDonkey: (info - http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6949377/) Choko's taking a few commissions. He's done some nice footpaws on stuff before - not footpaw centric, but still good! ========================

http://sta.sh/022palrjtn7e (same picture, alternate angle)
Artist: Tchai (aka Tchaikovsky2)
Character: Jinjing-Yu (owned by Tchai)
Why: The attention to detail is AWESOME in this. And while it may be a full body picture, Tchai has done such a wonderful job of making this completely paw-centric (just check out the label on the lotion, hehe), AND offered up two beautiful views of Jinjing-Yu's gorgeous little footpaws. The feeling of the picture is just so warm from from wonderful lighting, the layout and of course Jinjing-Yu's cute little glance back at you. Easy choice for most Pawesome today!
CariFoxLeopard:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17316855/ (nsfw, m/f)
For those of you new to the Paw-Mail - yes Cari is nearly always at the top because she nearly always has one or more paw-related pictures to share! Anyway, Renki and Taki enjoying a nice little mating, along with Renki very much enjoying Taki's foot.
KampferWolf:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17318535/ (nsfw-ish, m/m)
Kampfer getting those big soft pads of his properly attented to. BIG picture (w00t) with nice details.
WFA:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17307334/ (nsfw, m, macro)
Falco! A look through my gallery reveals I have a soft spot for this sexy bird. :3 A very macro Falco making a mess of a city, but apparently quite happy to entertain a lot of micros! BIG awesome footpaws here (love his scaled feet). Though I would have to say my favourite Falco picture from WFA is this one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11521309/ (also nsfw) because that is the BEST view of his soles! :D
JammerHighwind:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17309004/ (nsfw-ish, f)
This is his new character Sun showing off some poses, and that she also wants you to tend her nice feet. Chop chop.
KolbeJack:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17312265/ (sfw, m)
Just reading a book... and probably wondering why everyone's staring at his feet when he looks up. Great looking footpaws on this canine - big pads, big toes. Yum.
Gorsha_Pendragon:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17320563/ (nsfw, f)
More dainty/cute footpaws for Ms. Pendragon - one on the bed, one up in the air (and... pretty much everything else about the lady being revealed as well).
Higsby:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17324004/ (nsfw, m)
We're seeing the afterglow of a little self love here with a nice view of both soles - one clean, one messy - take your pick I guess!
TheWildCoon:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17324669/ (sfw, m/m. macro)
One very overly happy husky wooshing down on what looks like a surprised MLP. XD Nice view of his footpaw.
Teaselbone:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17324567/ (nsfw, m, macro)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17333234/ (sfw, m, macro)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17333264/ (nsfw, m, macro)
LOTS of macro going on here with various sketches from master Teasel. And... now you can say you've seen a chubby bag-pipe-playing X-vemon. Bet you never thought you'd see one of those. :P Really like the nice pose on that footpaw in the last picture too - that's nice sorta sequential drumming down of the toes that you don't often see.
Vallhund:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17331887/ (nsfw, m, TCO!)
Awesome commission of Xanderfoxfire's character. First off... does his member not remind you of a Popsicle? Like seriously, there were multi-coloured Popsicles like that when I was a kid. NO they were not canine-member shaped. :P Anyway, she does add one very teasing view of his right footpaw in this pic, showing a bit of sole and toe pads.
Nommz:

(alt. link): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17331221/
The infamous Duncan Roo posing with Teaselbone. What could POSSIBLY go wrong for that city!?
Kclt:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17328985/ (sfw, m/m, micro)
FutonMania's character looking a huge foot over Kclt. While human-ish in design, this is beautifully done and posed. Nice angle too.
DJ-Rodney:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17328319/ (sfw, m)
Frank the raccoon being all pudgy and cute, offering up a great view of his soles.
Tchai (aka Tchaikovsky2):
http://sta.sh/01rf1jpj12u9 (nsfw, f)
A gorgeous 1920x1080 Wallpaper of one of the frames from the latest Anza comic. This is the character Kebibi (a hyena) sitting and contemplating stuff. She has super cute speckled footpaws, and this offers a wonderful view of them. The comic it was from is here: http://tchaikovsky2.deviantart.com/.....weke-551962595. Read all of the Anza comics (which are great!) here: http://anzastory.tumblr.com/
Reptile Cynrik:
https://www.weasyl.com/submission/1.....15-traditional (sfw-ish, m)
(alt. link): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17318893/
A beautifully detailed character sheet for Reptile, which includes a great look at both the tops and soles of his footpaws (which he stated he included specifically for paw-lovers). :) I've always loved this character (hmm... need to feature him soon!) and those big feet. :)

Some Q&A:(TC) What sort of interest in footpaws do you have (if any - and feel free to explain maybe why you like drawing them)?
(Jammer) I'm not very picky with what sort of paws/claws/feet I enjoy. And my interest can vary with my mood. I guess my biggest love are fully-padded/skin-sole feet.
(TC) What type of commentary do you like on your work? What sort of comments do you not like, or don't want (say, creepy comments or whatever)?
(Jammer) I enjoy any sort of criticism since I'm trying to become a professional. I welcome any sort of comments except trolling or arguments.
(TC) Do you have anything you'd like to personally say to the folks in the Paw-Mail?
(Jammer) Not in particular, thanks for having on here, I hope to draw more and more paws. :)
(TC) How did you start drawing, and when/where/how did that end up leading you to the furry fandom?
(Jammer) I was drawing since I was 3 yrs old. I got serious into drawing at around 14. I actually discovered the fandom a few years later when I found Furaffinity.
(TC) Do you have a particular favourite sort of footpaw you like to draw, and why is that?
(Jammer) Like I said I love fully-padded paws the most, since it feels better to me. I usually draw four-toed paws the most, I feel that's the cutest number of toes.
(TC) Does your interest for footpaws (if you have one, that is), spill over into real life and humans? Explain.
(Jammer) Of course I love them. Human feet IRL are actually my least favorite kind. Mainly because most people just don't take care of their feet and they get all gross and stinky. I don't think I'll ever exercise my interest IRL because of that.
(TC) What is your favourite sort of commission or drawing challenge to get?
(Jammer) I namely enjoy the one involving cute, small, cuddly creatures. They are soo fun to draw.
(TC) Do you have any sort of advice for anyone who would like to take up drawing (like where to start, or something that is helpful)?
(Jammer) I say just start. You don't need training or school, unless maybe you planned on making it a career, which I am. Just take aspects from other art that you really enjoy or inspires you. Then build it into your own unique style. It will take time to perfect your skills into something you truly enjoy, so be patience.
(TC) Do you have any particular pet-peeves when it comes to drawing or working as an artist?
(Jammer) Art blocks, when I draw too much and I have to take a break, with makes me feel unproductive. Also, looking at my old art and realizing I probably could have drawn them much better.
(TC) What do you find the most attractive thing in art about anthro characters (can be General, mature, or adult commentary)?
(Jammer) Namely the colors and just how it is completely unique from just drawing humans all the time.
Wow... all the artists of late have been so great about answering all the optional questions! Thank you very much Jammer! And that's a wrap for today's paw-mail... soon to be paw-post. :P Have a safe weekend everyone!

Love the most pawsome picture and the interview with Jammer.
And yeah, Tchai's work is just kinda mind-boggling. The details put into them just seem endless - even when you see a close-up render, it just gets all the more detailed.
Nice paw-post with lots of nice paws. :D I like!
There were or are quite a few talented artists open for commission this time. Just for your information Lauralien has put explicitly paw themed pictures on her "DO NOT DRAW" list. Too bad for us, but it's her decision and thus it's alright. :)
So from now on you are not on call anymore until October? Good times! You've earned it. I hope you can enjoy summer and your free time in general now. ^-^
As for the on-call stuff, we're on 7 week rotation. I wish I could say that it would mean a fun summer for the next 7 weeks, but September is going to be the tightest month financially that I've had in 9 years. Long story short - my mate's job of 16 years is ending (company is dying), and it takes a month before her full disability payments kick in, so we'll be $1000 short for the month. :( So... I can't really go anywhere or do anything because we won't have any funds.
It was great to work with Lauralien, very nice person. But hey, if she decides to move all fetish stuff to her "do not draw" list, it's alright. ^^ Just a pity that we don't see any more paw stuff in her awesome style.
Man I'm sorry to hear that the next month is gonna be stretched thin financially speaking as well as that your mate is going to lose her job. It's really bitter to have to go after 16 years of loyal service. I wish you both the best of luck and I hope that there are going to be happy months afterwards. You deserve it.
And yeah, that was sad, but not unexpected. The company, an ISP, has been struggling for years. She is the last employee besides the owner and her husband (who does the server stuff). The only unforeseen thing was the month gap - she didn't realize her disability (as she has Lupus and only worked 2 days a week) was a month behind her work pay. If we had known sooner, we'd have been trying to conserve more for it. Normally it wouldn't be as big a deal with with the recent vet bills for Shady and then an earlier operation in the year for the cat, that ate up the spare funds.
I'd actually do the same I guess. It's the decision whether you want to be known as professional porn artist or professional artist in general. Or something along those lines. Haha yeah it'd be bad if you apply for a job, tell them you've been drawing since years and only have a few clean pictures to show them.
It's very sad to see the company you work for go down like that, especially when you liked the work and the co-workers. I hope your pets are all alright again. And yes, those unexpected things can totally devastate your savings. If you need help please let us know, okay? :)
And yeah, sad indeed to watch what was once one of the city's main ISPs go slowly down into a death spiral, but that's what happens when the people calling the shots aren't able to modernize. The guy behind it was on the Internet back in the 1970s, but most of his methods of doing things in terms of coding, approach and understanding of TCP/IP, servers and code seems to have come to a stop in the 1990s, so most of it is very obsolete now.
And yep yep.... pets have devastated our savings multiple times in the last 17 years. That's why we got pet insurance a couple years ago. Even with that though, it only covers so much, so sort of like softening the blow. All the animals are okay now at least. I think we'll be okay, just really, really tight for a month, but if things go bad, I will let you know.
I hope you've been able to catch up on some rest...you seem to be having a rather hectic time of things lately. Make sure you keep those batteries good and charged! :3
I reckon my favorite entry is reptilecynrik's feature -- that's a crazy amount of detail overall, and it makes for a really polished look. The padding on reptilian paws is a neat design choice too; I haven't seen a whole lot of those around. :)
As for rest... *chuckles* Here I am writing this at 4:30am because I had to get up early this morning to (big surprise) go into work to upgrade a couple systems during the Sunday morning change-window. Yup... it never freaken ends.
Yessssss - detail has been something Reptile's always been SO good at. I"ve been admiring his work for over a decade now and it's always been very well detailed. Clearly a very patient man. :P I do like the extra attention the footpaws have been getting of late too. :3
Ah jeez. You can't seem to catch a break. :'c I hope they at least treat you well, considering how much you've been bending over backwards for them lately..
I can definitely understand that admiration! There's something to be said for his patience and talent; it absolutely pays off. :3
And ... yeah, mostly; but honestly, we're ALL putting in hours like that. I'm not unique in my group. :/ We just need a lot more people, and whether the university wants to admit it or not, we need to accept that the services we provide are critical enough to warrant 24/7 staffing.
That's never a fun situation... It always baffles me when companies or employers are aware of an issue, and the obvious solution thereto, but stubbornly refuse to take the necessary steps to correct it. Wouldn't it make much more sense to have a more flexible rotation of staff and hours in order to cover the possible need for odd-hour maintenance...? :'/
I hope things get a little easier for you (and your fellows) soon though, at the very least. :'x
And bad news with your mate's job. :/ The feeling alone, the knowledge that your working place is expiring is bad enough, plus the financial things. Plus the nice surprises life has in store as soon as you think "Woah, I really saved up a nice amount of bucksss!" And then pets, big repairs, and blammo, gone is the money. For nothing. And even the chicks aren't for free.
Still, despite that shitload of work you went through, quite an impressive piccy collection here. Greer will definitely let you have some extra whiffs for all your troubles with this paw post. ^^
