I'm brainstorming for ideas on events to host for the rest of the year. This is a list of planned and proposed events. Some of these are things we have done in the past and some are ideas I've come up with. If you have your own ideas or suggestions, please reply to this journal or send a note to me. I want to get some of these set up and announced as soon as possible.
FURBOWLS - Upcoming: September 5 (#42), October 10 (#43), November 7 (#44), December 5 (#45)
PICNICS / PARKS / BEACHES - Colt State Park, Lincoln Woods, Roger Williams Park, Goddard Park, Slater Park, etc.
RESTAURANT MEETS - Denny's, IHOP, Newport Creamery, 99, etc.
FOOD TRUCKS - We can check for locations of food trucks in the area.
POTLUCK LUNCHES AND DINNER - Either at someone's home or a park
MOVIE MEETS - At the theater or at home, possibility for the Rustic Drive-In in North Smithfield
GAME MEETS - Board/card games, RPGs and video games played at home, possibly an arcade meet somewhere
FAIRS AND FESTIVALS - Please look for any in your area that could benefit from having fursuiters.
ARTS AND CRAFTS MEET - While there is an artjam that takes place regularly at a coffee house, it could also be held at someone's house or apartment. There could also be a crafting session where those who sew or make things could show off their items or techniques.
PET WALKS OR CHARITY EVENTS - I'm hoping to get us involved in a pet walk at Roger Williams Park on October 24 to benefit the Providence Animal Rescue League. I'd need to talk to them soon. If you find other charity events that we could participate in, please let me know.
MONSTER MINI-GOLF (Seekonk) - This was done last October with a small turnout. I hope to get more people next time.
KING RICHARD'S FAIRE - This will happen on September 12. Stay tuned for a journal.
WATERFIRE (Providence) - Remaining dates this year: August 15 and 29, September 12 and 26, October 3, November 7
CORN MAZE (Portsmouth) - October 24, costumes allowed
RHODE ISLAND COMIC-CON - November 6-8, I want to see a Furry invasion of RICC, but it's the weekend after Furpocalypse!
ICE SKATING - Either at an formal ice rink or at the skating rink in Kennedy Plaza in Providence
IMPROV COMEDY - There are a couple of improv groups in RI, but I've found one in Warwick that has events on Friday nights.
