So today I posted a commission that had been completed some time ago with guro/gore as the subject matter.
Now, this commission had been sitting in my folders for some time now and I had been debating posting it for fear that my watchers may dislike the content but ultimately decided to post it because I personally enjoy the subject matter and also liked the image because it served as a nice example of what I can do when asked to work outside of my comfort zone.
I didn't really consider the topic to be that upsetting when there's already a large variety of non-conventional fetish material in my gallery (fat furs, vore, pregnancy, tentacles, ect) but my assumption that you all would be okay with gore was incorrect and I apologize for any discontent I may have caused. While I did upload a thumbnail warning, tag the image correctly and put a "trigger warning" on the image, that apparently was not enough to shield folks from the material they didn't want to see and that wasn't my intention.
As it stands, the image will not be reuploaded so you don't have to worry about that again. I will continue to only post what the majority wants to see and keep non-conventional fetish work out of the public eye. Sorry for the lapse of judgement on my end, hope everyone has a good day!
EDIT:
It seems the problem with the image revolved around the thumbnail warning not showing up for everyone, so I elected to remove the image! I do appreciate everyone saying "I have the right to do what I want with my gallery" and I absolutely agree, which is why I thought about my choice to remove the image and decided to do so!

Had to delete it because I was getting quite a good number of angry messages about it.
It's like some people only follow some artists for fap-material, and not the quality of the work.
Though, keeping certain things in another account is a good idea so people don't flip at seeing some gore or other "odd" fetishes.
IDK. I conversed with some watchers about this kind of thing and a couple people kind of irritated me, but I guess it's understandable >.<
As for making a second account, I don't have any plans for that! Managing one account is a pretty taxing job and I don't honestly believe I could invest the proper amount of time into maintaining it!
Would you care about showing it to me via notes?
I love seeing new art regardless of content and and I'd love to see what has some peoples' weenies tied in knots >w>
If not, it's all good <3
Just curious and interested ^^
Sorry to hear some other people gave you crap for posting something "too extreme"
Sure, it kind of sucks that the thumbnail doesn't show through when browsing an inbox, but the worst they would see is a minimized image. If they clicked on it then it's their own fault, honestly. XP
Now personaly I don't think you should delete it if some people aren't happy by it, it is easy to just not click on an image or just delete it from your watchers submissions list, as long as the content rating was correct then people shouldn't be worrying about it, but at the same time I do respect that you have the thoughts of others watching you in mind. Its good you care about not upsetting people.
Do you not have an alt account for that kind of thing, or am I thinking of a different artist?
Moving away from that though, I rather liked it. ^^ I'm cool with gore myself and coupled with a style likes yours it's really quite fun to see what happens. You did well on it and you should be proud of it, it turned out well.
I know I don't blame you for wanting to share your art, and it's saddening to hear that you had to take down work that you seemed rather proud of, even though it's a subject matter I don't particularly enjoy. I can absolutely understand why people were upset, though, and they're not at all in the wrong, either. The argument that you don't click it if you don't like it is a little bogus since the thumbnail preview is definitely big enough to see what's going on at even the slightest glance.
Really, though, none of this would be an issue if the site would properly make it so that Inbox thumbnails / previews for submissions were censored as they are in other viewing modes. It boggles my mind that it doesn't function that way by default, but I suppose FA is a little behind in several areas, really.
As far as my gallery goes, I didn't think it would be as much of a shock given it's a commonly known fact that I draw fetish material of all types often and when I have vore, morbidly obese characters, and other non-vanilla material (that could be considered sensitive depending on who you ask) subject matter in my gallery, I wasn't under the impression that it would have been such a shock. But that was an incorrect assumption on my end and I made sure to apologize for it!
As for people being upset, I don't mind them being bothered; I guess I did mind the fact they sent me very aggressive emails and notes about it (calling me some pretty offensive things on top of it), but otherwise generally civil commentary was what prompted me to remove it in the end.
I really don't understand why people got upset when you legitimately took the steps to prevent people who may've been uncomfortable from, y'know... seeing it on accident. Honestly that's on them, not you.
It would be helpful if they'd implement a tag filtering system like weasyl has. That way people could just block stuff like that that they don't want to see.
Though to be fair, I missed it. Glad people clarified.
I'm glad I was able to see it when I had the chance too. It sucks you chose to take it down.
That way you can still share your work but there is a zero percent chance of someone seeing it without knowing what they're getting into.
Overall if you're drawing something controversial you run the risk of negative responses. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't make an effort to allow people to avoid seeing things they don't want to .
The journal states that the art was removed due to the thumnail malfunction, so I was trying to offer a solution, I totally respect any artists choice to not post gore if they don't want to deal with the way people act about it.
:v dis teh thing ya talking about?
(the link is broken technically but I saw the file name)
I don't get why people are so over sensitive when it comes to art.
Really not a fan of gore, but I would've just chosen not to have clicked it had I known. :p Different strokes for different folks and all that. Don't really care.
But as it stands, I really see no point in complaining. Sure the lack of a thumbnail is something you can't fix... that's up to our admins... who I'm surprised have not fixed so many bugs with this site... regardless of that. Your gallery, your right to upload.
Besides, my gf finds one of my favorite fetishes particularly weird and even a bit gross but doesn't mind me drawing it XD. Eh, tastes and all that :p
While it's not my sort of fetish or thing you have every right to upload it if you feel that you want to.
I do not see people who clicked to see an image having a case to object to what the image is, especially if there was a warning thumbnail. I mean, does noone CHECK before they click anymore? Besides that, if you don't like it, DON'T LOOK at it. Noone's sitting there forcing you to.
I firmly say that you should have the right to post what you like, and not have to bow to someone else who feels offended by that.
I bet it was just as amazing as your other work, as always!
i was actually just giving my two cents for someone who was vehemently angry at a user on DeviantART for being a fan of fauxlacine, who has gotten a small bit of notoriety as a horror writer and artist! their work revolves entirely around horror themes and unsavory subjects, and their overall goal is to make you wildly uncomfortable. naturally, this will have very mixed results, and they've gotten death threats regarding their subject matter! i myself have actually recieved an anonymous comment on Tumblr, which was mild, but it got a chuckle out of me; "how can you like Journey and The Thing at the same time? those are two conflicting interests" was the jist of what i got.
it is perfectly reasonable for people to be angry or uncomfortable, but i find it absolutely atrocious when artists are mutinied for doing what they will with their galleries and their time. i'm very sorry that you've gotten such an awful negative reaction to your work, and as a fan of horror i would naturally encourage that you continue to explore this genre regardless of the outlash! perhaps a secondary account for gore-only would be a suitable option? it's one that i've seen be taken as an unfortunate side-effect of such anger. it's very unfortunate that people could be warned out the yin-yang and still find reason to complain.
i respect your decision to take down the picture, but i hope one day i could catch a glimpse of your more macabre artwork, preferably without you getting such a vicious backlash!
Of course, tag filtering would still have its problems. Namely people here not knowing how to add them correctly - I've ran into several submissions that had nothing to do with what I was looking for - or opting to not add them at all. But at least it would be better than having everything show up, even the things you don't like, without a way to hide them.
