TMI Tuesday!
I should probably do these more often, anyway it's TMI Tuesday time so you're free to ask anything in regards to me, my characters or any projects but I do have a few requirements this time! Try to make it as CLEAR as possible what you are asking me, don't feel your question with a bunch of randomly adding words, sounds or symbols, please if you are going to insert any of those leave them out of the question. I'm fine with some people talking like this but when it comes to doing things like TMI Tuesday it causes a headache trying to figure out what people mean and second, be SERIOUS with your questions! Really! Actually put some effort into your questions and be creative :3
A comparison to reality is that IRL females of most species are favored, from the anglerfish dimorphism to the peacocks dull colors to better hide. In both cases the males have adapted to give the females an easier time choosing a mate while keeping local resource drain low (if male anglerfish were as large as females the food supply would be cut in half, since the males can't eat that means the availability of food is higher)
Since our world favors females, or society has been impacted by this, encouraging the preservation of our ideal female figures. As technology advances the plane is leveled off. Our ultimate goal, in media and in life, is for the two genders to be thought of and treated exactly the same. Hence the action girl archetype we have today.
So if these abilities are found throughout society, or all of nature, then their media should likewise be affected, especially if it's a sought after trait.
Another one of these countries has had them present for so long in the region, that there were a mixture of normal people and those with abilities long before the local towns and cities were established. But there was strength in numbers for those without, and eventually with the dawn of modern civilization things began to balance, modern weapons gave those without power the ability to have it even over those who did and many of these abilities didn't grant people the ability to be like superman or anything, no one was invulnerable. Laws were created to give "equal" judgement to anyone who used their abilities in crimes for example, as a fair treatment to the people, because in the end as long as they could obey the law and support society, it didn't really matter. A lot of media reflected this of course where you would have characters in fiction where it was natural to have this, or someone who would be showing off on a television show and such. Sports due to their nature on the international stage found themselves with special balance rules that forbade anyone from using such abilities.
In many of my settings these powers and abilities, all these traits are far from new and have existed with the people for a long time, at least long enough that the first recorded mention would have been a very very long time ago. This allowing for things to sort of balance things out, but not enough for society to ignore their presence.
