It's in both the image AND the description. if they're not reading the description where the bidding RULES are they SHOULDN'T be bidding. And they SHOULD be looking at the pic before buying it you'd think =A=.

there isn't any legal issue. the title will make not difference and the longer a title the less they'll read it anyway.

thats what the journal is for lol. if people complain when i send the invoice that they didn't pay that much, i just throw the journal their way or point to the description where it clearly says.

I have the EXACT same problem sometimes. I guess a lot of people don't bother reading; they just throw a bid down. So many times I've had people pull out right at the end saying 'Oh I didn't know this was in GBP' when I state several times in the description :3 Can get very frustrating lol

it's the same kind of way people treat ToS and stuff online liek tpeople NEVER read those things either. people just tend not to read stuff that turns out to be IMPORTANT to know cause thye think it doesnt apply to them or something idk ugh but yeah it's so frustrating it makes me want to scream it's my biggest pet peeve.

Oh yer, TOS are nearly always ignored. Even though I have it linked everywhere. I even link people asking to it, and yet they still act as if they haven't read it. People apparently prefer to spam me with questions (That my TOS answer) rather then read the rather short journal.

That's why I always ask the people who runs the show. What currency is that ? So that we both are on the same boat.

Ah man, sorry you have to deal with that so much, I can't imagine how irritating it can be when you do all that and people still ignore it. To me, it seems like a big reason is that fA, in my opinion, seems to be occupied by and American-majority, so a lot of people are probably just so used to bidding on dollar-auctions that they don't notice when it's different. I mean, even a lot of non-American sellers will take dollars instead of their native payment, or they'll at least do conversions. But then, you also have those certain people who just ruin it for everyone and don't read descriptions or skim over everything.
I really wish I could offer advice, but since you already put the currency type in the image, title, and description...there's not really anything else to do that I can think of. :'>

I did ask once if I could pay for something in USD, or the equivalent of USD in euros, but I'm from Canada. The only currency I'm ever paid in is USD so I just assumed it might have been standard on FA to accept. My apologies if I've contributed to your sorrow!

As much as it might suck, but IMHO you can't do that either - you can't require people to pay the same amount in a different currecy they actually bid in.

If you don't accept a given currency the only thing you can do is to treat that bid as being INVALID (and possibly hide it to not confuse other bidders). If you then take further actions like notifying the bidder about their mistake or if you ignore it completely is entirely up to you. But the bid is simply invalid! ...IMHO.

They just need to read for 10 seconds and then they would actually see, so no, it's the bidders fault for not reading.

Of course it's the bidder's fault. And so it is their fault if their bid is invalid.

I think if you want to work around that currency problem, you need to use an actual bidding system. There were some furry fandom driven ones - furbid, furbuy or whatever - but I don't know if they're still in operation - never really payed attention to them.

if they bid in USD when it clearly said GBP, thats their fault. If they do not realise and then have complaints at the end of the auction and dont want to pay, they will not be FORCED to pay, I can't make them pay. the bid will simply go to the next highest bidder and they will be banned from buying from me for however long I decide (based on how bad the situation turns out to be). but if they can't be bothered to read something they're committing to buy then they shouldn't be buying in the first place. It's simple. people need to take a minute to fully read things.

And yeah... People really should read terms and conditions and stuff like that. I try to do so, even though it sometimes can get really exhausting and very time consuming. Have you ever read (and also understood) all the TOS and Privacy Policies and so on of your operating system, smartphone, all the software and web services you are using? Back then I actually wasn't able to further upgrade my Win XP system when they changed some TOS with an update, wich I didn't agree to. So I was actually forced to switch to a different OS on wich terms I could agree on, to have a reasonably secure system again.

I haven't looked yet, but I'd guess your terms are quite short and easy to understand in comparison. Just saying... people are selling their souls by not reading! ;)

yep it converts it for you so I ask for the payment in GBP, it'll take your USD and covert it for you into GBP to pay me. the main problem is with me working in GBP, people using USD don't really get the exhange rate and realise the price is higher than they thought it would be in USD.

In all fairness, USD is also used as a standard for calculating prices outside of the United States. Because it's used widely many people have a grasp of its value, even if it's not their native currency, so it can serve as a decent metric. Kinda like I have a grasp of how much a Euro is worth, but if you told me it cost rubles I'd stare like a slack jaw'd moron and then flee to google to check if that is in fact a currency still in use. World economics are weird. I can understand people getting mixed up. Doesn't make them not idiots by any length, but it happens.

I know plenty of Europeans who just go ahead and convert their prices to dollars ahead of time because they know Americans are too fucking stupid to do it themselves. Hell, I know plenty of artists from all over the world who just take USD and convert it themselves (I know my Brazilian friend LOVES getting USD for some weird reason). In fact the only ones I know that are real sticklers for it are in fact the British. Not just artists either. I have to guess it's something to do with some kinda tax regulation in the UK? Or a really weird coincidence.

because the conversion rate isn't always kind to us Brits especially for USD. and we get whined at when we write prices in the equivalent usd cause people say its too high a price. $1 in america will buy you more than £1 in the uk does.

Brits didn't change to use the Euro and we're actually in the euro zone (yet people still continuously think we use euros and that just annoys us we hate being in the EU). we're stubborn as heck and as a nation have a general dislike of america for various historical and other reasons. so we're super unlikely to ever use USD in a widespread basis.

(also 1 USD is 3.75 BRL so thats probably why your brazilian friend loves getting USD.)

When it comes to me I use USD because it's get's easier since SEK is well not as well known as $, EURO or £ x__x

And USD is well much more worth than SEK xD so it works better in a way haha, but yeah I hope everything works out for you!
