Terms of Service and FAQ
I wish I had a little more time to ease into this. I intended to make a journal about it weeks ago, but school prevented me from doing that... So prepare for a lot of information coming your way!
THE RANT
I'm taking a comics class this winterm. I've always wanted to and I've had it recommended to me several times by professors and students... The professor who teaches it at my university is notoriously difficult and the last time I took her class, it ran me into the ground. From that point forward I pretty much came to the conclusion that if I want to take another one of her classes again, it has to be the ONLY class I take. Well, the perfect opportunity arose: she's teaching a comics class in Hawaii over out January 'winterm', which not only fulfills a requirement I need, but allows me to do a lot of research for Sink or Swim. I think this class will be the real inception of the comic, as I'll get to learn about technique, different forms of media, as well as the surrounding area of course.
The one unexpected and slightly unfortunate thing is that our room and board has changed to no longer include board--which I was relying on to feed myself while there. For those who have not been to Hawaii, since it's an island and a lot of the resources are imported, everything is really expensive. I was given a very modest estimate of $25 a day to feed myself, which is money I do not have.
Don't get me wrong--I'm thrilled to go, and it's largely in part to the amazing support you guys have given me over the months and years. I'm eternally grateful for that. This is just a very small concern amidst a very large, amazing opportunity.

THE GOOD STUFF
THAT being said, I'm doing Hawaiian themed badges to cover the cost of food while I'm in Hawaii. This was actually something my professor recommended that I do after I told her about my financial situation/Sink or Swim (she was oddly supportive of my work here after admitting it to her, it was really cool) so she's fully aware that I'll be sneaking commission work in amongst our classwork.
