Having looked for more information today, I found a message from Jasen's father, which uncovered more of the mystery of his death. With it having occurred on the 31st of December, many (including myself) assumed he had been killed by something like a drunk driver or related.
However, the new message revealed that it had nothing to do with that; instead revealing that it was a freak accident which occurred in the shower.

While this new information is not any less tragic, it does help me feel better because it removed the mystery element, and because it was not due to the stupidity of another person's actions.
