The Newsletter! Week six

Welcome to the sixth edition of the Fortnightly Furry Musicians Newsletter! And today Pascal is off his rocker on 80's synth rock. Because it's been one of those weeks... we all get 'em. Nothing's working out very well, but damnit, I WILL write a newsletter!
Alright! Last newsletter I asked you all to fill out a one-question survey on what musical genre you most associate yourself with. This didn't go completely without hitch... but regardless, here are the results! (open this in a new tab, right click basically) http://strawpoll.me/6460940/r
So what we've learned from this is that Rock/Metal/Punk is actually the most common genre, Electonica coming in second, Orchestral/Classical/Score in third, then Rap/Hip Hop, Jazz/Swing/Blues and Other all with one vote to their names. I gotta say, quite the surprising result. I had honestly thought Electonica would wipe the floor with everything, but apparently not! We've learned something today, though Actual Legit Science! Actual Legit Science does not take any responsibility for any inaccuracies in this study
So, with that in mind, it's only one and a half weeks until the first round of the Express Yourself Contest finishes and all the submissions have to be in (The definitive date being the first of February). I had been thinking while trying to come up with ideas for songs for the contest, that the system used here is a very good practice for the world of professional music making, having a rigid timeframe, limitations to what you can make and only a certain amount of material can make the cut, which if what I know from the metal bands I follow is true for all music, is how it works in the larger music industry. The whole idea that you need to draw in a listener with only one minuet to work with is another added querk of the contest and is, in many ways, good practice for the world of music. Keeping the attention of a listener through one minuet often means they'll continue on for the next... well for some music I listen to that can be upwards of 20 minuets... But you get the point. Packing a condensed, lethal punch in a one minuet song written over one month is quite the task, though the ability to pull it off certainly says a lot for one's composing skill and is very much a skill worth having.
I'd also like to say that, somewhat unrelated, the music world has lost some of it's absolute greats very recently, Lemmy, Bowie and news has broken at the time of writing that Glenn Fray has passed on as well... so please, take care my fellow musicians, wrap your musician friends up in bubble wrap, do what you gotta do but keep safe out there...
With all that said and done,
"...You've got the Ads!..."
I'm in an 80's mood. You can tell... I'm gunna have to re-draw Pascal with big hair and aviators at some point, but that's besides the point...
<<<Other>>>
It's not strictly music, but I have been asked to include this regardless,
S3V3N is in a very bad financial way and they have set up a gofundme to try and make enough money to make music and YouTube-based work their full-time career and could use all the help they can get.
