"Even in the darkest of nights, morning always comes"
G’day Folks
Wolfrider here with a special announcement!
Since i can’t make it to the states this year because of the low Australian to US dollar conversion, i have decided to hold not one, but two contests this year!
Just like my previous contests, it will require entries to feature my characters from the Colmaton superhero universe owned by
train and
mojorover
However i am bringing back the ability for artists to join in the fun, by hosting the writing the artwork contests separately.
Standard Colmaton Universe Requirements:
You must read up on the UNBOS created by
mojorover
Absolutely no Humans are allowed within the Colmaton universe unless cleared by
train
The Colmaton universe is a semi realistic setting where real world events have taken place, however you are free to come up with new events that could take place.
Writing contest rules:
All story ideas must be cleared by me before they begin on their entry.
All contestants must fill out and submit their story idea and the characters they wish to use via the google doc form.
All Entries must be submitted by 10 pm January 8th 2017 Australian Eastern Standard Time, any entry submitted after will not be accepted.
Stories that are used to personally attack any individual or group, or be used as a means of revenge will be instantly disqualified.
Stories must be related to the theme/themes of the contest and be within the requirements to be accepted. However if you wish to use a theme of your own, please make sure clear it with me first via FA Notes.
I will allow co-writing for the contest, provided that proper credit is given to all parties involved.
Writing contest requirements:
Stories must be no less than 6,000 words in length and no more than 20,000 words in length.
They must at least feature one of my characters as a main in the story, be it a hero/villain/support.
Stories must take place within the Colmaton Universe and use characters from that universe, Original characters will be allowed so long as they are not human or human looking in nature.
The Stories must be done in a location that is within the Colmaton Universe, but not within the City of Colmaton. Stories can take place in other cities and other countries but must not take place within the City of Colmaton itself.
ARTIST CONTEST CANCELLED!
Themes for the contest:
The writing contest has a number of themes that can be based for the the premise of the contest story entry, however one should not feel limited to these themes but they will help with sticking to the requirements of the contest. Note you will also be allowed to use more than one of the set themes below.
Out of one’s comfort zone: Sometimes when you are on the job, something might come up that maybe too much to handle. A character may be faced with a challenging opponent, unorthodox abilities, an opponent that knows their weaknesses or a situation where they can't suit up or use there powers. This theme tackles that aspect, taking the character/characters out of there comfort zone and stacking them up against a mountain of a challenge, will they succeed or fail?
Villains win the day: Just when a heroes day can’t get any worse. Heroes don't win all the time, sometimes the bad guy gets away or worse instead of the hero catching the villain, the role is reversed. This theme focuses on the villain and their success in crime and over those that wish to stop them.
Everyday heroes: It’s not always the heroes that save the day in a universe filled with superheroes. Police officers, Paramedics and Firefighters risk their lives everyday to make sure the citizens of the world can rest easy at night, without the luxury of superpowers or bureau of superheroes stature. This theme is about showcasing characters that often serve as background characters and thrusting them into the spotlight, with them assisting or even saving the hero and taking out the bad guys.
Hard fought battle: If a battle between two powerhouse characters ended after just a few paragraphs, it wouldn't be considered a decent fight. Hero/Villain combat can be prolonged, physically exhausting and brutal, especially when it comes to hand to hand combat combined with the use if superpowers. This Theme focuses on doing justice to the characters and showing what they can do in drawn out clashes where their can only be one coming out on top.
Running the gauntlet: Villains can be quite creative when it comes to dealing with heroes, often it's laying a trap or deliberately leaving clues in order to draw the heroes right where they want them. This theme tests a hero's ability to problem solve and figure out how to escape a trap or challenge, be it trapped in a maze, navigating a booby trapped building or lair, or tackling a gauntlet much like the one created by the gym brats.
Investigate and prosecute: Being a superhero isn't just going around beating up bad guys and saving the day. Sometimes to get the bad guy, you need to investigate their activities and catch them in the act, collect evidence and even show up to court as a witness, or in some cases, show up in your civilian identity to prosecute or defend them in court. This theme handles that aspect which is rarely seen from both the investigative and judicial side of superhero law enforcement.
The Ballad of Peril Mountain: What's a good villain without putting the heroes through perilous death traps or subjecting them to a situation that can drive them nuts? This theme is all about the crazy and creative ways a villain can mess with the heroes be it in a silly prank or something far more serious. From villains wanting to just off their foe by dunking them in a vat of acid, to wanting to mentally scar them with a mock/forced marriage, this theme encourages writers and artists to be creativite.
Just one of those days: It's always the case, when that one villain has to strike on that one certain day of the year. This theme is more focused on events tied with a certain day of the year, be it valentine day, halloween, Anzac Day, Queen's Birthday or Independence Day just to name a few. This focuses on what can happen on these days within the colmaton universe and what the heroes do to revolve it.
Location, Location, Location: Since the stories and artwork must be within the colmaton universe, but must not take place in the City of Colmaton (You can still have the city featured but it should not be the focus on the story); picking a location to set your ideas is key, be in within the united states or internationally, picking a location, be it a certain place, town, city, country or other location (Space and other planets included) is a must.
What you are allowed to do with my characters:
I'm mostly ok with alot of things and i have no problem with non consensual scenes, provided that you clear your idea with me first.
