What are you and your friend looking for exactly in a server?

We're on ultros atm. We're pretty slow and want to enjoy the game at our pace, but everyone makes fun of us for being 60 (on our main classes) yet not having touched HW content yet. and my friend isn't a big fan of raids because of the current (do lots of dmg or youre not good enough) meta

DPS checks are always going to be part of the meta sadly. If you want to clear the new content you need to be able to utilize your job to it's fullest, that's just how it is and how the game was created to be like.

There are still alternative was to play the game more casual as new content becomes nerfed over time. Much like how fully geared level 60 players can easily complete level 50 dungeons and trials unsynced.

Hows Gilgamesh? I hear its the RP server people go to if they can't get to Balmung. I'd like Balmung but its hard to get into plus I worry if it a cold/unfriendly community

I've tried to get into it but I'm waaaaaay too anxious to actually jump in. But I joined Gilg because it was said to be an RP server. xD
There's plenty of people who have search info saying they're Roleplayers and that walk-ups are welcome, I've also seen at least 3-5 RP oriented FCs without even looking for them intentionally.
I do know a couple people I could recommend you to if you want to get into RP on Greg. There's a pretty large group at some events as well when I'd lurk by 'em.
There is a website as well that has most events on a calendar to show when they're scheduled.
I think a Miqo'te named Adolar Stone is the main founder of it? I hear roleplayers on Balmung even RP in say, as for Gilgamesh, its usually in LS, FC or other chats. I've seen a few griefers pester them a few times.

Not-RP wise. I really just keep to my own FC. But I haven't had any trouble with hateful players or anything.
There's a bad egg every now and then that people encounter but I haven't had any issues myself.
