While I can't say that I don't have a problem with what happened, the fact of the matter is that it can, and probably will, happen at any other site out there, When the play station network was hacked awhile ago, I didn't quit using my playstation consoles, I just adopted better security measures. When my paypal was hacked a few years ago, again, I didn't stop using paypal, I just made some precautions. Which is exactly why I wasn't bothered when this happened to FA, because all my passwords are different, because I learned. I find it a bit ridiculous that some people are abandoning FA because it's no longer safe when it, and every other site out there, have never been safe. I respect people's right to leave a site that they no longer feel safe on, but in reality, it's false security to think that any other site won't get hacked at some point, if they even come clean about it or do anything about it. In reality, the measures that FA is taking now make it more safe than a couple of the other furry sites I've been on, although it's unfortunate that they had to get hacked in order for them to take these measures.

Anyway, that's just my two cents on the issue. I think it's a good idea for artists to either disable notes entirely or only take payment details through their emails or have customers send their money through that paypal me system, but I don't agree that other sites are going to award people a great amount of security beyond the sites being so small change that hackers won't even bother with them, although the flip side of that is that sales and exposure will go way down. *shrug*

Agreed! This is exactly my point. I was one of the people who used a junk password for my FA account, and it's not going to cause me any security issues elsewhere. However, I am worried about people potentially accessing my account and therefore accessing commissioner's info through it, and however unlikely I'd just like to eliminate that possibility entirely. Email seems to be the safest and most universal way to go about that communication, so I'll be only taking commission info, no matter the site, through email.

I know it's a lot more convenient for users to stay in-site with all their links, info, correspondences etc. but I just don't think that's really viable as an option for me anymore. This is the only site I do it on though, and that basically means it's the only one I'm changing my policy on.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I know there's often a lot of mild 'mass hysteria' after every time this happens, and people threaten to leave etc. but this is the first time I've felt like a policy change is really in order.
