PCD & my newly found love for fursuiting
Thanks to
mishi who came to What The Fur in Montreal this past weekend with a spare fursuit for me to lend to me, I finally lived a full fursuit-at-a-con experience and got me hooked.
Although I have put on a fursuit a few times in the previous decade, this time I walked in a parade (although quite short but in front of local TV media), played a full game of DDR Extreme at the arcade of a local movie theater (for the 2nd time but this time was better), walked from my house to a nearby park and handed out hugs to several kids, and disco-danced myself into slight dehydration (lingering headache that vanished some time the next morning). Dancing in suit is totally different than without one. I wasn't dancing. I was giving life to a dancing toon wolf. I couldn't believe how much easier it was to make up moves and put my heart into it.
The unavoidable PCD kicked in too soon. When I helped
mishi pack his stuff in his hotel room yesterday, I saw and picked up the head of his unnamed wolf fursuit that I wore during his visit, and I teared up. It had hit me that I wasn't gonna put him on anymore, that it was over. He was going back home with
mishi, so it doubled the sadness for me. I had gotten attached to that wuff. Some of my soul was now in him and going away. I suspect that this might happen to most (if not all) fursuits I hopefully will have the chance to put on in the future.
This felt to me like the 1st time I animated a character, back in 1988. My first 2D cartoon experience (8 seconds in a group project) was intense. Giving life to a cartoon character was amazing. Now, performing a toon wolf, live, with instant reactions and hugs to boot, brings that feeling to a new higher level.
I wanted to wait until I had all photos and videos of this weekend's experience ready before making this journal, but accidentally opening a photo of me in the wolf suit just made me tear up again, and I decided to write this journal right away.
***EDIT: here's at least one photo of me in the wuff suit: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20070602/
I'd like to hear about you guys' first impressions of when you first fursuited. Please leave comments!

From Friday Nov. 11th to Sunday Nov. 13th. 2016.
I'll most likely drive there Friday the 11th (probably in the morning, right after rush hour traffic) and I'm driving back Monday the 14th, probably after check out and lunch. I'd pick you up and drop you off at your place and we'd split the gas and parking cost 50-50.
While my first fursuiting experience in 1998 was invigorating, like what you went through, I'd like to mention one visit to the children's hospital in 2005. There was a 7 year old girl, with cancer. She knew who I was and invited me in to her room. Her mother was standing in one corner, visibly shaken. Normally the mascot offers hugs and hi-5's to the kids, but this girl motioned me over and whispered, asking me to give her hugs to her mom, that she needed them more. The mother and I both teared up a little. Moments like that are the reason I love fursuiting.
That must be a terrific experience! *hugs tight*
It wasn't my suit, it was lended to me by
and ya i know and thats good to hear i hope you get your own fursuit some day :)
