$5 Commissions!
So, I got laid off my job, right? A few weeks ago on a Wednesday, my boss tells me that they can no longer afford to pay me, and that coming Friday was my last day at work. Crazy imminent. I was excited at first, because this meant that I no longer had any obligations, that I could move to Florida to live closer to my boyfriend and get out of my parents' house.
Heh. That went down the toilet.
I have realized, after 3 weeks or so of absolutely NO response whatsoever from the multitude of places I've been applying to, that this economy SUCKS. Is this new news? No. Am I incredibly slow to realize just how bad things are? Yes. But this is the first time, aside from rising gas prices, that the recession has directly affected me. It has kinda hit home.
I had some money in my savings account. I was set for a while, semi-comfortably. I wasn't too bothered. Well then my glasses (which are nearing 10 years old) broke two weeks ago. The left arm snapped clean off without hope of being fixed. Buying new glasses without any insurance (my parents' policy coverage ended when I turned 18) took out 2/3rds of my savings money.
Now I'm getting slightly fidgety.
God will provide, I know He will. I need to stop worrying about my finances, and about gas money, and just let Him get me through this. I just have to keep my eyes on Him and trust that He knows what he's doing. This is a time for growing, for the testing and stretching and maturing of faith.
Let's just hope this testing period ends soon.

In light of the above situation, I will be opening myself up for $5 commissions on both my deviantART (http://poim.deviantart.com) and FurAffinity accounts. $5 will get you a pencil sketch of one character with flat digital colors. Basic shading and additional characters can be added at additional cost. While payment before the sketch is completed is appreciated, it is not necessary, as being paid -after- the picture is done will help motivate me to get my butt moving and finish the artwork. =P
Fine Print:
I only accept payments through PayPal, and nudity and porn is absolutely out of the question. If you want your finished commission mailed to you, then shipping costs will be at your expense.

also, how many character would a $5 sketch include? I've got a pair of hybrid felines who need more attention, and why not adding something clean to it? :)
also, how much would be shipping to germany? I believe I have enough right now to afford two slots. :)
$5 is for one character. I'm thinking additional characters shall be $3 each.
At this point I'm reconsidering offering to send the commissions through the mail. I know very little about safely mailing commissions. However, I did look up the postage rates online, just for you. ;) Shipping to Germany will be around $7-$8, from what I estimated.
I can give you some tips on a halfway safe shipping if you wish. ^^
second, you can use either standard envelopes, then you should add some backing - double layer corrugated cardboard, some 6mm thin, works well and is lightweight - lest the artwork can get wrinkled or otherwise damaged.
you can use cardboard-backed envelopes, which cost more (the scrapyard of your friendly neighbourhood supermarket can provide you with enough cardboard, just be careful with knive and sharp paper edges), but then you won't need extra backing.
or you can use bubblewrap-bolstered envelopes, which cost even more, are easy on the contents, especially when you ship badges with clippings attached, but still would need backing.
thing is, in my experience, if it feels sturdy, post people are less likely to abuse it. a sloppy envelope can be bent without damaging anything (except expensive artwork). so, they would.
also, avoid using the cardboard backings of paper blocks. they are sturdy, but also very heavy, which adds to the shipping fee.
also, make yourself aquainted with the maximum sizes and weights of letters and other mailing methods, so you can quote shipping prices and know what sizes and weights work best.

do whatever you like with them. clothe them, hide nipples, cut curious poses, it's all up to you.
feel the power of artistic freedom! ^_^
And thanks for the information! I appreciate it. :)
Thanks for your interest! :)
