Fred Rogers once maintained that in a disaster, you look for the helpers.
If you are interested in helping, here are a few handy tips:
1. There is a GoFundMe site if you want to make donations. Thoughts and prayers are all very well, but there are people needing help.
2. Donate blood if you can. The blood banks are full now, but there are still wounded, and they'll need it.
3. If you have a friend who says that the gays deserved this, call them out on it. NO ONE deserved this.
4. If your minister/pastor/rabbi/imam/shaman says that the gays deserved this, call them out on it. For you Christians out there, a reminder - Jesus ran with the marginalized.
Finally, I'm asking that those who follow me here on FA to please signal boost this journal.

There’s no really good solution to your problem, but I’ll give you the best advice I can.
You may want to look for local support groups, or a sympathetic school counselor. Check the internet for local LGBT resources in your area. Confronting your parents is probably not a good idea – it would make for a potentially difficult home situation where you’d be trapped and maybe at the same time questioning your values or identity. That’s why support is important; it’s not good to bottle your confusion or anxiety up.
If you’re not LGBT, likeminded support (friends, other adults, etc.) can help you discuss this with your parents. There’s no reason to just keep quiet with them unless you’re at risk. Remember that they’re your parents.
Short version: Find some support, and stay safe.
