Fuck this fucking shit.

Dick...
8 days ago, I came back from Eurofurence ( It was fun, though! )
I had a very bad surprise when I arrived at the airport : my check-in baggage was not there.
I did a baggage claim procedure, and they told me that my baggage should be delivered in a couple of days, but no news since Monday, 22nd of August. I'm calling the company (Air France) almost every day, but they're still unable to tell me where my baggage is, like "It was forwarded from Berlin to Paris, but we're not sure". Lol
The main problem, my 2 fursuits were is the baggage :

http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19552112/
Technically, I lost around 3000 € of fursuits and other stuff, and I still don't know if I'll see them again one day...
Anyone else had this kind of bad experience with airlines ? I'm just wondering is there's any chance to see my baggage again.
Also, sorry for people who are waiting for a response from me about commissions : this shit took all my time and motivation, hopefully it will be fixed very soon... Please be a little bit more patient. Thanks.

Anyway, After 21 days, the content of the baggage can be refunded up to 1300 €... that's not even half of the whole value.
I've never flown so I can't say that personally have had that problem but I have heard some stories from others most did eventually get their stuff back once they were found
Airlines usually take the loss of baggage VERY seriously. At one point my dad lost a baggage that had literally ALL of his clothes plus his laptop charger plus paperwork he CANNOT lose. He reported it to the airlines who looked into it for him. Turns out the luggage had been checked into Amsterdam airport, his connecting airport, and had not been checked onto the next flight. Less than 3 days later, the luggage showed up on his doorstep. Since you have already waited a few days, I'd give them a little while to figure out where your luggage went.
At least these are Scandinavian Airlines. I dunno about Air France, but usually, an airline that consistently loses luggage, with no chance of retrieval? They don't stay in business for long.
Personally, I'd report the missing luggage, with a DETAILED description of its appearance, as well as contents(First for identification, second for confirmation that its ACTUALLY yours...How can you know whats in it if its not yours, right?), and the Airport should do all it can to get the luggage back to you.
After all, lost luggage is bad for airline business, so trust me, they'll get your shit back.
My route was TXL (Berlin Tegel) -> AMS (Amsterdam Schipol) -> MRS (Marseille Provence), and I have no idea where the baggage was lost. Sunday evening, the guy told me that it missed the connection in AMS, but the day after, I hear that it stayed in TXL and it was on its way to CDG (Paris). Now, They still don't know if the bag is actually in Paris or not...
I don't know, I'll just wait until the end of this week and see what happens, I can't do anything else.
but I agree that it should be taken seriously lost luggage is bad for business for them I do hope they track it down
Whether you get your luggage outside, in the potential freezing cold/scorching heat, after sitting on an airplane for anywhere between 30 minutes to over 15+ hours? The last thing 'I' would want to do, is stand outside and wait for EACH INDIVIDUAL luggage for over 200+ people(Who can carry up to two each btw) to get theirs.
And besides, even if you stand outside in the elements waiting for your luggage, it doesn't really make much of a difference if the luggage is not on the flight to begin with. So instead of at least standing inside in an Air conditioned room while having lost my luggage, I'd be standing outside in whatever horrible weather is prevalent at the time, while having lost my luggage.
Honestly? I'll take the conveyor belt system any day.
Usually when baggage gets lost its in one of two places. Where you left (checked the baggage) or where you arrived (first place the baggage was sent to.)
Sometimes baggage is sent on later flights because of load restrictions on an aircraft or if the bag didn't make it to the plane prior to departure.
Now, the baggage will remain at an airport (departure or arrival) in their lost baggage area. Basically a room, for a certain amount of time.
After that, most airlines have a main, lost baggage wearhouse, that's full of lost baggage. Like, football fields of lost luggage.
It will remain in the warehouse for a while, but will then be auctioned off (like a year later) if no one claims it.
(I hope this helps, an I hope you find your luggage. If your address an number was on the bag an they find it, they should ship it to that address. It may just take a while for standard shipping.)
These massive warehouses aren't something commonly known, so it isn't like you can show up and go 'Hi, I think you have my bags, can I browse your thousands upon thousands of lost bags?'
If the airline lost it, then they don't know where it is, let alone you, how do you claim it?
These wearhouses aren't general knowledge and are locations that the airline will give you. I know United's is in Houston, TX.
Unfortunately, if a bag is sent to one of these wearhouses, it's the airlines way of saying, "We don't know who this belongs to, so we've given up trying to locate the owner." It also stinks, because if the airline tells you to go look for your luggage at one of these wearhouses, that's at your own expense, as far as traveling to the wearhouse, even if it is in a different state/country.
Now, if the airline says hey, we couldn't locate your bag, and it probably has ended up at our wearhouse, there is still hope. As far as tracking your bag, if you go to the wearhouse you'll be able to describe your bag to whoever is on duty and give them a range of dates for when you lost your bag, basically from the day of your flight to the present, they will be able to go through and look at every bag that was brought in during that timeframe.
If your bag however is not in the wearhouse after the airline tells you to go there an you check. Then unfortunately your bag was probably picked up by another passenger and never returned.
(Hope this answers your question)
As far as my questions though, it does Kinda answer them, even if it's a disheartening answer.
The 'at your expence' part definitely sucks, especially if it's somewhere very far, which will likely mean flying again, which will risk more lost luggage and high expense just to get your stuff back that they lost in the first place. No doubt they hope to keep it to auction it off for themselves. Profit from almost-theft.
I had an insurance, but they fuck'd me, because the "missed flight" insurance was not suitable for a return flight... Sheeiiit.
Now I do not trust the flight insurances anymore.
Good luck!
Extra checked bags are a huge headache to any airline. Only so many bags and of so much weight can be loaded onto the aircraft depending on it's volume, passenger load, and fuel load. This is one of the reasons that airlines charge for checked bags now and not just for the extra revenue instead of raising ticket prices. By making an incentive for their passengers to carry on instead of checking bags it frees up a ton of capacity for those that want to check bags.
Extra bags when there is no longer enough capacity depending on aircraft load will be loaded onto another aircraft which will ultimately make it's way to the ticket holder's final destination. But sometimes these have to be offloaded at some point along the way due to weight or capacity and held. So as you can see tracking all this is quite the burden. So unless someone walked off with your bags at the carousel it's very highly likely to show up.
If they only search the places it should be, that's a lot more potential for loss, and so far the only insider that's posted so far suggests the look in the places it should be. Where you left, and where you arrived. Even assuming your bags got put on another flight, that had to make a connection, and they include that connection in their search, that still doesn't account for all the potentially dozens of other airports it might have ended up if some handler simply tossed it on the wrong jet. It'd end up sitting in 'lost baggage' at that unknown airport, with no know knowing it's there to look for it or claim it, until it end sup in one of those huge warehouses of lost luggage mentioned by the insider above, and then auctioned off.
....Travel sucks. :-\ I drive.
Simply put, never trust an airline. It's why I'm only ever gonna have carry-ons. My bag, my problem, no lazy arse bag handler. I can't recall if we also lost several discs containing detailed information about over 600,000 people in an airport, but I think that was a government worker leaving them in a park or a subway, I don't think it was plane related.
So, yeah, never trust English airliners. They're seriously bad at their jobs. XD
If I was heading somewhere like my partner's house or somewhere within that area, I'd just post my items ahead of time (as that's more, though still not entirely, reliable than airliners). If it was somewhere like Austin, Texas... Well, my time there would be like a survival course. XD
My horse suit will be done this fall
I've had two experiences like this, one from Us-Us, my bag didn't arrive, but they mailed it me the next day :/
The other was from Germany-Us, one 1 of my 2 bags arrived, the other took only 24 hours to arrive, and I picked it up shortly after.....
But already over a week with no sign, and with that much in your bag.... I really hope you do get your bag back soon, and everything's intact....
Iunno, spoofing controlled cargo seems to be more trouble than it's worth, at least as far as the US is concerned. Maybe a non-weapon variant?
https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transpor.....and-ammunition
I was going to Spain from Germany and I heard a story that on the same route one of the passangers had their luggage checked in ... Brazil.
Anyhow I hope they are delivered safe soon.
1. Most personal insurance policies offer some kind of coverage for your belongings in transit. A home-owners', or renters' policy should cover it. You may have to provide proof of ownership since these are high-dollar items, and some providers require "riders" on big-ticket items, so there could be a sticking point if your insurance company wants a rider and you have not filed one PRIOR to loss. But there are many ways to negotiate around things like this. Your adjuster will make that determination.
2. Most credit card companies offer some kind of travel insurance for lost luggage and such, if you book the ticket on that card. Check the benefits for your card.
3. Airlines are fairly good about finding lost luggage, even if it takes a while. Heaven knows I have travelled enough and lost more than a few bags, but they have always showed up eventually, and they are USUALLY complete with contents. Always write your contact info inside the luggage container itself, as well as on the various items inside it. The primary reason luggage gets lost is that there is no contact info in it. Do not rely on tags or things attached to the bag, they get ripped off.... also writing outside gets scratched off or damaged, including the airline destination tags! That is possibly why your bag got lost, the sticky tag got ripped off. Someone might have taped it back on, or possibly it got stuck to another bag. Bag sorting is almost completely automated, it is also possible that your bag was close to another one and when it went thru the sorting machine, and was routed incorrectly. I've also seen one where the sticky tag ripped off one bag and stuck to another, causing that bag to get mis-routed, and the original bag went to the lost luggage office. There is actually a lost luggage office with people who do nothing but search for contact info inside luggage.
4. Most airlines have a lost-luggage compensation policy. It will not cover the full cost of everything, especially things like fursuits. But before you can make a claim for this, you have to let them do their investigation. It could be up to 30 days before they declare the luggage completely lost.
5. As frustrating as it is, be sure you are calm and polite with the airline people. Lost luggage people get screamed at all day long, it's an incredibly frustrating job. Most of them have gotten so numb to it that they just don't care about anything. When you walk up to the counter and calmly express your desire to find your luggage, and let them do their jobs, well, they are usually surprised and happy to work with you.
Hope that helps.
I really hope it solves itself >-<
Save that though if nothing happens and they get shirty on paying your claim. For now alas its have a coke, smile, and accept that YOU are here and had a great time.
Gaia bless

Snoofy old burr
Also it's like what Iber says, as long as you have your contact info on your bag it should be all good.
I hope that you will receive it soon, or at least know something about.
It's happened to me in couple months ago too which I had a content of $2000+. What i did was file a report with the airline agent and took a copy of the report. I got my luggage back after 3 days, contents are all fine but my clean luggage turned into a dusty and dirt covered luggage. Remember to keep your luggage ticket!
Or better yet like a fursuiter friend of mine that travels cross country with said fursuit, will ship it to the destination ahead of time insured for 3x what it is worth as a "Wearable Art Piece", says if he ever had one stolen or lost that he'd want enough money back to buy 3 more.
People and employees of airlines steal luggage all the time all over the world every day... This is why they have insurance, and luggage GPS trackers, or electronics anti-theft devices and such for travelers.
From what I have heard, if they don't "find" it within a month, it is gone for good, unless it turns up in some police sting a year down the road, and if there is no serial number or contact information in or on the item itself they would not know who to call, since the first thing the thieves do is get rid of all the tags.
I had a $1400 MSi gaming laptop STOLEN by someone at Delta airlines a few years ago (luckily I had it encrypted but all they'd have to do is get a new harddrive and reinstall the OS so at least no personal information or porn of importance was stolen lol), and when I was a Kid going to Disney World someone stole my checked bag of plushies on United Airlines (which is devastating to a child).
I have family members and friends all with stories of lost bags or even specific things taken out of luggage (always something expensive). Especially now that most airlines and countries don't allow the use of private locks on bags. I say "stolen" because everything else like clothes bags and hygiene cases came back fine... They were all dropped off at the same time so there should be no reason for all but one to make it.
Pretty much everyone I know does their trips by car with expensive fursuits, even cross country Furcon trips, and only takes a plane when they know all their stuff fits in a carry-on or will be properly insured.
If a whole bunch of people's bags are missing from the same flight then it likely means the loader didn't load the plane and that it will show up on the next one, but if just those one or two things went missing it was likely stolen... This happens a lot when it comes to international travelers because you aren't local enough to know the laws or to harass them in person.
I'd say to file a claim if you can through whatever means are available to you. Hope things turn out okay, otherwise a life lesson was learned and will likely never happen to you again at the very least.
This sounds like a case of Someone thinking, "Oh hey, this is cool, oops! Guess it is lost now!"
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. *hugs*
I was going from Athens to CDG Paris and one of my suitcases had a bunch of small statues I bought in Athens along with a few essentially irreplaceable items and a bunch of my clothing.. and it never arrived. EasyJet pulled this 'you have to pay before you can check that in' and we were close to gate closure time. I paid and got back in time - but they screwed up the routing to the plane.
It never showed up and I never got a cent in compensation.
This is why I *never* check in luggage anymore. But I don't fursuit - so yeah, entirely different situation.
One suggestion? If you're going from Berlin to Paris? Take the train! It's longer - but no luggage hassles (well, not yet - I hear they're talking about making it more difficult).
Bonne chance...
Hope you have the same luck! *hugz hugz*
Both airport workers and law enforcement reserve the right to seize any suitcases and bags and even destroy them regardless of if they check out ok.
It's stupid, but its done for safety reasons if they could check out okay but could still be a threat. No compensation to owners. It's fucking bullshit.
Best 'a luck man! :T
I remember they made me fill a report with the contents of the luggage, so that I could try and get a refund if they couldn't find me my property.
Other times it doesn't go so well. Sometimes they find the luggage after a month, sometimes they find out it was just stolen and you are never going to have it back. Depends on the case :/
it took the airline (insert name here) about 4 weeks
so i think it will come back it´ll just take some time
good luck
This was from LA Calif to Minnesota Twin Cities AP.
Keep calling and bugging the shit out of them until they get your bag. Sadly though they have a shitty claims and only cover like $2000.
Most people who get their shit lost by the company sue the airport because they dont fully pay for the loss.
If it has a tag then it there somewhere. Maybe call both airports. AirFrance and
the other. Yeah I would do the exact same you are doing hehe.
Call everyday until they resolve and I would make sure they actually do shit about it. And yes i would also sue them if they dont pay for everything thats in there.
I wish you luck and hope you get your bag back so you can sleep better, zura.
Good luck, meow!
Man, France needs to man the fuck up a bit and start taking care of business! It's like they stopped giving a shit over there!
Airlines are such idiots sometimes.
never traveled by air with something more than a hand luggage since then, i rather keep my shit with me than to leave it to crap airline luggage management.
so far never needed to travel with something huge to have it sent around by the airline, and if i ever have to stay few days in a foreign country i just buy cheap clothes i can dispose of or donate to charity before going back home.
had a lot of "lost" luggages or plain out opened by airport employees and got shit stolen kind of situations in my family that i don't want to deal with that anymore
I know a style that no one on the west coast has any idea of what it is. I have used it numerous times, I have a video on You Tube showing me standing up to a gang banger attempting to rob me at the gas station I worked at idea of what it is, it does not even have a name. The last guy i used it on I broke his gun right after i moved faster than he could think to link my hand around his revolver. The leader of the 5500 member gang came and asked me what I wanted one year later, I still can ask a favor of him if I want to. The Gang is a Hispanic one called the North Park Gang in North Park area of San Diego. I decided to move instead of ask a favor.
Now I speak from experience of helping to catch 117 criminals while I worked security both undercover in the then murder capital of the world Detroit and now in the new murder capital of the world San Jose California. I am sixty, I can kick ass and take names and i allow my partners to be the top. I will delete this after a day. I am still struggling as an artist trying to paint the way everyone else does but cannot get anything to come out as rich and well done as H0r3e can do.
Sorry for the long post but this jerk pissed me off. IF I were in Europe I would go and find out what the fuck happened to your suits myself, but I don't have a passport so I really can't. still I made a comment that though mean does ring true because vof the latest things happening in France of late.
I meant it as a warning too. I am sorry for this thing happening to you, I do hope it is only lost luggage and your stuff returns to you intact, and that my fears are wrong.
if not i hope they give a good voucher of the costs of your fursuits and everything else there was inside
I would suggest call them at least three times a day. If they say it's at CDG, then call the AF counter at CDG three times a day.
