The ER doesn't generally have a deposit, and if he doesn't have insurance, he can apply there, and may not have a bill at all.

I've never really been to the er before so I don't know much about how it works, I just know we don't have much money of our own currently..m so it's really scary that this is happening haha

You go into the ER and they fix you up and mail you a bill 2 weeks later, when you get the bill, call them and say you can't afford the bill and have no insurance and they will write it off or ask if you are willing to do a $10-$20 a month payment plan. You can haggle the bill down a fraction as well if their monthly offer is overwhelming. If you ignore the bill they will call you incessantly after 3-4 months and then it will just go on your credit.

This is probably useless info but just make sure to have people mark their donations as 'donations', just in case paypal sees an influx of transactions! They've been known to freeze accounts for stupid reasons like that, yeah

I had strep throat earlier this year and I had to go to urgent care twice and the ER once in a week. We had insurance (with pretty comprehensive coverage) and it still cost us around $1.5k in additional fees. I am not sure where you live, but I live in the states, so it might be different in other countries.
OFC if it seems like he needs to go now I would totally say go for it! Q__Q

If you do have to go, urgent care is cheaper than the ER so, we had to drive a little further but there was a 24 hour urgent care where we lived :( At least try them possibly. At urgent care they were able to give me a shot of penicillin to treat my strep the first time I went in. I just had to go in the second few times for extreme pain and trouble breathing (ER).

oh gosh I'm so sorry I'll signal boost for you - Also if you go to the ER it'll cost $1kish but you get a bill so you can pay it off. The minor ER tends to cost $400 upfront. Though sometimes this vary's and you might call ahead to see if they have some sort of payment program. I don't know if this info helps but I hope it does, I'd say fuck it and go to the normal ER and just pay off the bill later if you need too. As long as you pay something each month like $10 they can't complain so.

I can't send donations but here's a possible helpful tip. Depending on the hospitals/prompt cares/ emergency rooms in your area you may be able to apply for financial assistance since he just lost his job. I know that lots of religious based hospitals have these, and when I was unemployed I had to use it. The sooner you ask and apply the better usually. Good luck.
