Font looks/seems fine to me. But I accept that even minor changes will range from perfectly fine to some and Holocaustic to others

For me it's an entirely different font for some reason. I never told it to change fonts or if there's even a feature for that, so I don't know why I'm getting it.

Because Toggle Descriptions has been an option people had BEFORE the change.

Better to have it on and be able to be toggled off, not off by default and you have to turn them on.

Honestly, from someone who has built websites before, the UI as it stands now is a fair bit clustered and user-unfriendly at the moment. Horizontal thumbnails are larger and will be abused, font size for the descriptions is too small, proximity between images is too close, it feels rushed and unpolished to me.

That's FA's staff for you though. Focuses on the things that arguably aren't needed to be worked on instead of the really important things.

oh i'm not saying it's perfect by any means. I'm just amused at people once again going "WTF FA" w/o even bothering to click a button that's been in front of their faces for god knows how long

That part of things didn't bother me. Once I figured that little bit out, that was fine. It doesn't fix the current issues though that this didn't seem to be tested under Beta first and instead was forced on everyone. Honestly, whoever coded this update really needs to dial it back and do damage control and try again. There are so many UI errors in the new system, and the massive outcry of people asking for a reversion option to the old Classic says a lot about that.

I still use classic... the Beta layout just didn't appeal to me much at all back when I last tried it xD

Such is a subjective thing. I've seen many a reasonable complaint over the forced change, even in Classic, and I can see where many of them are reasonably placed. In comparison to how the previous system was set up in Classic, I don't think this new setup even comes close to how organized it was before.

Cause the only change i'm referring to is the submissions page which I'm perfectly happy with.

Submissions and main page, really. I'm personally not happy with the chaos that it's induced, and this is coming from my experience building sites. Any UI that's implemented needs to be viable and reasonable for ALL users, not just a select few. I think the real issue is that the change was forced on both Beta and Classic users instead of tested prior on Beta beforehand. The majority of users utilizing Classic prefered the UI as it was. Kind of defeats the purpose of "Classic" if the UI completely changes. Considering that things were all organized in fairly regular sizes in the old UI, and now there's a total cluster of images, especially with horizontal images concerned, and the order that was present before is pretty much shattered, I do think that there wasn't a lot of real thought brought into this update and they focused on the wrong thing for site speed.

This kind of behavior on the part of the coders and staff is why a lot of people left in the past for other sites like FN. There really isn't any transparency with the staff, and on a further note, there doesn't seem to be any real listening going on for the needs of the users. Things like being able to change one's username on the site, or adding blacklists to the things you don't want to see on the site. Things that reasonably, would be a good addition to the site. Right now, it kind of feels like they're playing mad scientist and watching to see our reactions.

don't have anything against any of that.. I do agree that testing it out on beta before fudging with classic makes sense. Atm I don't see anything unviable or unreasonable about the changes i've seen so far. But I may just be one of those few who aren't really phased much by such things while they may be bigger issues to others.

I can select images individually anymore on mobile. Then check box won't stay visible for me to hit it. So, it is very much broken for me now.

It's more so that the update feels kind of... Pointless. Yeah, the original method of viewing content wasn't perfect, but there are bigger issues they could have addressed. Like the disorganized watch/comment notifications, the horribly outdated and equally disorganized notes system, and (using the same journal that announces these changes as an example) the outdated, and once again disorganized, comments system.

Why bother 'fixing' submission display if there were more glaring issues?

My guess is little things are quicker to push out than big things.... no idea !

I'd think adding folders to the note system would be smaller than making scaling submission, but eh

Actually, they made it appear over the thumbnails when your mouse cursor overs on one. Although, on mobile...unless you have a stylus, it won't happen so the "Toggle Descriptions" button comes to the rescue. xD

But, I do hate that the space that you can click for selecting (not opening the link) is smaller. Not cool for me. :/

There is an option in your account settings to reduce thumbnail size

It's already at the lowest setting and doesn't work. My sub page is filled with giant dicks because of it >w<

I am not sure if I like how very wide images are now automatically way larger than vertical ones, but if you ask me, the whole thing is now way better to look at and looks less... antiquated.
Also, never ever expect people to consider using their common sense :P
