Opening up story commissions finally! Seems my little free story YCH thing kinda fell through. I still want to do it, but will have to reside on the back burner for now. Might do it again when I can procure a proper ref for my orca character, so keep an eye out for that.
Anyway! Here are the details for getting a story commission. Be sure to read it thoroughly and comment below if you have any questions. This will be cross-posted to my sofurry page as well (https://mykell-wildfire.sofurry.com/).
Slots
Because I am offering a few different options, I will be taking a total of 8 slots. 4 Standard length (or 3 standard and 1 long form) and 4 Shorties.
Slots will be shown in my profile as well as progress.
Process
Please EMAIL me at mykell.wildfire[at]gmail.com to inform me that you are interested in getting a story commission. Please include your username on either FA or SF (if you have one), this will just get you onto the list. I will contact you soon after to let you know you have a slot.
Once the slots are filled, I will post a new journal informing everyone of such and list the slot holders. If, for whatever reason, you wish your username to not appear, please let me know in the initial email.
I will then contact all of the commissioners to obtain details of what you want.
Payment will be required UP FRONT before any work will be started.
After collecting the details, I will work out an outline for the story and email it to each commissioner.
Upon approval, the writing will begin.
Once the first draft is complete, I will contact you again to show you the work. Because it is a first draft, it may contain grammatical and/or spelling errors. These will be corrected to the best of my abilities prior to the final draft being sent out.
The first draft will be your opportunity to suggest any changes or edits. Be advised that minor edits are free, but any major rewrites may cost extra. I will inform you if this will be the case ahead of time.
Once the final draft is complete, it will be emailed to you in whatever format you prefer. I tend to save my finished works as .doc and .rtf.
You are free to repost the story anywhere you like, as long as credit is given to me as the writer and credit is given to any characters that are not your own.
Pricing
Written works are somewhat difficult to price in a one-size-fits-all fashion. Many aspects affect the length of a story; number of characters, setting, dialogue, level of detail, etc. However, I have a couple options for you to consider along with base prices. Word counts are estimates. If I quote you for a standard length story and go well over the top, no extra money will be charged. If I fall short of the mark, I will offer a partial refund (this generally does not happen, but putting it here in the unlikely event it does).
Standard Story (About 5K Words or more) : $25 : Standard story length which can involve a few main characters and give them equal page-time.
Long Form (Above 10K Words) : $40 : Reserved for stories that involve more than 3 main characters and the narrative sometimes follows them separately.
Shorties (About 3K words or less) : $15 : Quick short stories that usually involve 1 or 2 characters and describes a single encounter. Short and sweet, light on long descriptions.
The final cost will be discussed in the first followup email after obtaining a slot and I have a chance to get an idea of what you're looking for. Extra characters, multiple settings, and more detailed descriptions will cost extra.
Rules
I am fairly flexible as far as content type (kinks and whatnot), but there are certain things I will not accept, such as follows
- Anything involving underage characters in sexual situations
- Anything involving scat and/or watersports
If you are uncertain, please don't hesitate to ask! The worst I can say is "No". From there, we can try to work out alternatives.
Including my own original characters in the story is permitted, but be advised that they will not engage in any activity or behavior that is uncharacteristic of them. I generally prefer my characters to remain within the universe I've created for them. However, that is not a hardline rule and I'm willing to bend it depending on the story being commissioned. Again, please ask and we will work something out. Refs for my OC's can be found linked in my profile and artwork is sorted by-character in my gallery.
If any characters involved in the story belong to others and are involved in sexual situations, please have the OC owner contact me via EMAIL with their approval. This is to avoid any characters ending up in situations that their owners do not wish.
Timeframe and Work Schedule
It's hard to say how long a story takes to write. If I can keep up a good flow, I can get them done fairly quick-ish. I usually average a couple pages per dedicated work day, but it fluctuates.
My regular job schedule is not bad, but is a bit of a drain on me. For this reason, I rarely do any writing during the work week. Currently my days off of work are Tuesday - Friday and I return to the job Saturday night. Wednesday and Thursday are going to be mostly dedicated to writing.
I will do my best to keep you up to date on progress and such. As such, I will also be including a progress bar on my profile that will be updated at least once or twice a week.
Cancellations and Refunds
If, for whatever reason, you wish to cancel your commission before any major work has been done, a full refund will be given.
If cancelled after work has been done, a partial refund will be given depending on the level of completion of your commission.
That should about cover everything. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding anything!
