Musical Accompaniment for OCs for Some Commission Series
9 years ago
So the purpose of this journal is largely to serve as a reference to folks who I plan to pitching an idea to. Recently I've been interested in linking soundtracks to the stories that I write, to help enhance the mood of the story that I am writing, so that the art that is seen can have the fullest impact. This led me to an interest in commissioning some illustrators by providing only a soundtrack that I think fits the personalities of my OCs, and provide the artist with the complete artistic freedom to create what they envision in the Sona/Character doing as they listen to the sound track. That said, anyone is welcome to go through the soundtracks that I think help define a number of my OCs XD
And I'll likely update this journal from time to time when I find soundtracks that I think are fitting to the character.
Mag
I'm going to add a bit of a sub-division to the songs I think he define Mag, as there are varying emotions and ideas that different tracks catch for Mag as a character I think:
Songs of Determination, Struggle, and Triumph:
The Arena by Lindsey Stirling
To Glory by Two Steps from Hell
Protectors of Earth by Two Steps from Hell
Suicide Mission from Mass Effect 2
Captain America March from Captain America the First Avenger
Songs of Sadness, Grief, and Tragedy:
Schindler's List by John Williams
Leaving Earth from Mass Effect 3
Wrong Side of Heaven by Five Finger Death Punch
Prologue from Beauty and the Beast
Where's Hiccup? from How to Train your Dragon
I'm Proud of You from Mass Effect 3
Songs of Adventure, Exploration, Curiosity, Learning
Enterprising Young Men from Star Trek (2009)
The Last Ride of the Day by Nightwish
Test Drive from How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
Dragon Racing from How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
Kizzie
Zi Zi's Journey by Lindsey Stirling
Icarus by Mythos
Touch the Sky from Brave
Building Upon Dreams by Denny Schneidemesser
Morning Adventure by Denny Schneidemesser
Draka
Winterspell by Two Steps from Hell
Across the Burren by Michele McLaughlin
Take Flight by Lindsey Stirling
The Prestige by Nox Arcana
Short Hair from Mulan
Farewell by Peder B. Helland
The Elusive Lynx
Dark Ages by Two Steps from Hell
Inside the Fire by Disturbed
Saren Theme from Mass Effect
Escape from Hannibal Rising
Riptide
To Die For by Hans Zimmer
Click Click Boom by Saliva
Du Hast by Rammstein
Exzess Express by Eisbrecher
Down with the Sickness by Disturbed
Die Motherfucker by Dope
Hope the tunes give some insight to these characters ^.^ I will certainly add to it as I find or remember soundtracks that fit and perhaps help build each characters, as well as I create or adopt new characters!

Well, I'm glad it at least provided something constructive for ya! Updates will occur now and again, I'll just have to remember to "fav" them when they come up on Pandora, because I always forget them by the time I get home...
Though I'll probably add a couple of categories as well, such as a "vs." category, like "Mag vs. The Elusive Lynx", as I've heard some tracks that would be great for that!
V/R,
Cap Mag.
His work actually came up on my Pandora playlist a while back, and did some looking into it since I really enjoyed the soundtrack, and boy was I surprised when I found out about the *who* of who he is. He is actually one of the artists I support on Patreon now, and plan to get a soundtrack made from XD
And I've certainly seen some of the accompanying works! I've had the opportunity to commission a couple of the artists he has (though those works are not yet complete), as it is some pretty incredible artwork!
V/R,
Cap Mag.
I believe I am actually in the queue with you for a couple of those artists, that was how I found your page initially. It never ceases to amaze me how many amazing people we have around here, and no matter how long I hang around I am always finding more.
It may very well be, I know I've seen you both in a couple of artists queues that I've commissioned, as well as in the latest Caraid opening, so it is quite possible that we are in one or more queues simultaneously XD So can confirm that you have good taste XP

Of course, I'm thinking more at the cinematic level, but I do like it when art appeals to the three principal artistic means, the eyes through the visual art, the ears through the music, and the mind through the story. And combining all three has really been on my mind a lot lately...
V/R,
Cap Mag.
I certainly love the orchestral themes for stories and characters! After all, I think a great story is worthy of having a great soundtrack (and it is often something is completely forgotten when one sees films, but almost all great films also have a great soundtrack to them, and I think that is what contributes to what has made them great)!

Cap Mag.
I certainly am interested in seeing what the folks who pick up on this and what comes to their minds eye if they choose to be commissioned in this way XD
And I'd certainly be interested if this idea is of interest enough that other people want to use it for their OCs XD I do think that music provides a great dimension towards creativity and ideas of one's characters, and can inspire quite a number of ideas XD

Suddenly I think of a War-wolf (heh, get it?) fighting with dual biretta's to this song after he transforms under the pressures of combat: https://youtu.be/jzMxcfC3NZ8
