You're going to have that problem because of furry content, not NSFW stuff.

I will defend furry content and it's community to the ends of the earth, so if for whatever reason people don't like that they can simply not visit this page. I'm fine with that. I suppose the same would apply to the specific content types therein, I just want to make sure I'm doing my best to keep all my watchers entertained :D

Also remember that as long as you've marked things correctly, to see anything but general content one must be signed in and have intentionally enabled the more adult material. So anyone just dropping in won't see it so long as it's not 'General Audience'.

Yeah, I just recently went through and marked some of the more 'risque but not technically showing anything' content I had as mature for that reason. Too many butts not filtered. But now they're good :D

Easily 90% of the people who support your kickstarter are going to come from the communities who know you already; if they are surprised by the furry content, I would be shocked.

1. There's a SFW mode on this site. Anyone who doesn't like it in general can use that.

2. What I don't like can be skipped over very easily. Just glance at thumbnail and open or move on.

I like NSFW content. I feel that if there are people who are bothered by it, that's why FA created the SFW mode; then they don't have to see it.

Honestly, my feelings are pretty much irrelevant here. What matters is your feelings regarding the following:
* Is your definition of not safe for work content consistent with what is generally considered not safe for work?
* Are you comfortable with that particular artwork being associated with your "inkmaven" brand as you advance professionally?

I have no clue what your long term goals are here. Looking at the current first two pages of the gallery, I've no problems with it. However, I'm not a publisher, editor, or what not. I've no clue how this sort of content is received outside of the community of buyers for this sort of stuff.

I generally try to keep my furry illustration separate from my real name and 'professional' illustration (i.e. fulltime seeking, the gallery I use to apply to jobs) because I don't find NSFW work to be very professional and/or something I'd want to explain to a potential employer who might not even know what the fandom is so I've been operating under the assumption that those two things should remain separate.

However, I have plans to launch a small apparel kickstarter sometime this month and it involves my character Ruska, who is in design a literal bridge between worlds. I have pictures of her here on FA but also on my personal facebook, so it's no surprise that Ruska = Me and therefore Ruska = Ink. I see the Inkmaven name and my real name coming closer and closer together because of this, which I am totally fine with, but since I don't want the NSFW work to really represent 'me' (I have definitely given the wrong impression to people before who assumed that because I drew it, I was interested in it) I have to decide, am I comfortable with it here, even if here becomes synonymous with my real name?

The answer currently is yes, it's not a large enough deal for me to move all of my explicit content offsite. That may in the future change, but for now, others have made a very good point about the SFW mode as well as the fact that when you're logged out, you are automatically in SFW mode so I would assume unless someone WANTED to see that content, it would be very difficult for them to come across it.

I have no real preference either way as splitting off work into another account doesn't impair anyone's ability to see what they want to see. There will be those that decide that having two galleries is a pain and be upset by it and there will be those that will be upset that they may have to use the SFW mode on FA to not be assaulted by something they would rather not see.

In the end, go with the one that makes your life easier and best suits your needs. I honestly doubt that the FurAffinity search results will end up being the top search results for Inkmaven if much of anything comes up on a search anyway.

I just looked it up and I'm actually the first three out of four results! FA first, then Twitter, then Weasyl. I'm actually surprised. Generally Inkmaven is like, someone trying to sell printers or some tattoo artist/enthusiast.

Very surprising! Most of the search engines rank off of links and FA usually doesn't have that many externally indexed links to content. Be very curious to see if/when you dethrone those for the top results.

Same. Image results are a bit more garbled it seems like, as it's all a specific commissioner of mine (Stray) reposting my work to Weasyl, so I guess Weasyl is really good at getting it's data to google.

Overall to return to the original query I'm glad people are supportive of whatever fits my needs, I just want to be aware of what you guys like too c:

If someone doesn't like your NSFW artwork they can just change their settings so they don't have to see it.

That being said, I'm curious to know how you feel about kind of 'grey area' submissions? I.e. the aforementioned 'risque work that technically doesn't show anything'. I've been tagging it as SFW, but I think I might switch over to anything teasy or risque at all just being tagged mature. As far as my gallery that just means a lot of butts, mostly.

Like seriously, I see billboards and signs on shops which have more bare skin and more seductive poses and those are out there for all to see, so I think it's totally fine!

I think it basically boils down to why maintaining two galleries is cumbersome for you: it's a common trick to use a second browser - Firefox or whatever - to upload NSFW stuff.

The SFW tab and maturity rating thing is a bit broken because it isn't per artist: some folks' mature is my limit, others' adult stuff doesn't offend me, and while I'm fine with swimsuit-equivalent nudity (fur covers everything a swimsuit would), other folks don't like what are technically bare people, particularly if a natural censoring pose makes it look risqué..

I prefer e621's tagging system, but that isn't likely to make it over here any time soon.

i'm fine with both i do watch at work with sfw on, long as your gallery doesn't get so heavily nsfw that i switch how i watch you, it's fine XD (i have an account to watch those with heavy nsfw things, since i'm not into it personally but i like to know when they open and such for more tamer coms)
and if you do want to have 2 accounts
the best way is to use 2 different browsers XD it's how the 3 accounts i have are dealt with
main is on chrome, alt is on blackhawk, and my fursuiting one is on firefox
