Beyond that, in this case I brought it up to Alex because I knew he'd do exactly what he did: See the title, maybe even watch the trailer, then freak the fuck out while doing no actual research into what it is, what it's based off of, or how it goes. Rather than do that he angrily typed its title into youtube and found the first "useful" videos that support his kneejerk reaction. Then doubled down repeatedly on it, to the point of trying to blame a rather unfortunate, still recent event on it and the mentality he thinks it represents.
Frankly the more these people are throwing fucking stupid tantrums over the title of a Netflix TV show based on a movie of the same title the less they're out there saying stupid shit to people or making up stories about how mean ol' BLM thugs harassed them over wanting a tip. That and if former boycotts are any indication they're full of shit and either won't cancel at all or will be back in a month or two, tops.
Of course he would freak out, the trailer is terrible and does not represent the actual material inside of the series/movie and comes off as the very thing its meant to parody and mock and shine a light on. As I said before this is either genius marketing(to drum up a lot of tantrum throwing and free press), or a complete marketing failure.
It is dangerous to think one side is right/wrong all the time and everything they say is gospel or outright lies. The world isn't that simple. As the joke goes, if it was that easy we wouldn't need lawyers. I doubt everyone in BLM is a complete innocent saint, just like not everyone on the other side are poor downtrodden angels being roughed up for being white. There are good people and bad people on both the left and the right. But in this age of extremism we live in everyone seems to want to destroy the middle ground and remove any chance of compromise or dialogue so they can plug their ears and stay in their echo chambers and pretend that the world only works in their way rather than learning and advancing by interaction and understandings of mindsets other than their own.
Tolerating it, ignoring it, and letting it fester tends to just let it spread. And I'm not really sure how many cancers you've seen where you can reason with them, but I sure as hell haven't seen any.

But to help get back on, you cant beat Hatred with Hatred. Only love. Help bridge the gap between both sides and have both of them learn from one another. Hatred tends to be born out of bad experiences and ignorance, those wounds have to be healed, and the ignorant should be welcomed and educated.
And to be honest the sort of people that'd cry over it are probably the sort of people who miss sundown towns.
I don't know the film in question, so I can't say if it's worse or not. I don't really care about horror films, but I'm guessing it's fairly obscure? It's kind of like how people who complain about games always use GTA and DoA Xtreme instead of more obscure, but arguably worse offenders.
Oh and before I forget, the movie I mentioned called "Get Out" is not as obscure as you think, it's a movie that's coming out this year. And if you think "Dear White People" is something to get mad at I would LOVE to see people's reaction to that trailer and the undertones people fabricate from the trailer alone. But like I said, the people complaining about this seem to have ABSOLUTELY no problem being demonized as xenophobic people who live in gated communities literally going all Mississippi Burning because a white woman is dating a black man. As for the film "Get Out", it looks ok. But as said, I don't really like horror films.
As for there being no reaction to it, I think you know why. There's an obvious difference between a horror film set in a village full of crazy racists, and a trailer that is brow beating all white people.
And honestly I can tell you the difference between the two. Where as with one show people are complaining about being mocked, ridiculed and called out for how only a handful of said people act with the other people are either blissfully unaware, don't care or strangely accepting of the fact that they get portrayed as people who are the equivalent of the devil because of them living in a gated community. This is where perspective comes in cause no matter what race you are anybody can see that both of thees films are as real as can be when it comes to the issues they tackle. It's just a matter of which one will handle itself better than the other is all. At least to me I frankly don't care either way at the risk of sounding dismissive.
