Actually, a failure to remain zealous in combating intolerance leads directly to the death of tolerance. Do a little reading on the topic "the paradox of tolerance".

To summarize it, when tolerance becomes so open as to allow open spread of ideas that are inherently intolerant, it can only lead to the end of tolerance in general. Thus why it is not bigotry to refuse to tolerate bigotry; a rational justification for refusing to tolerate an ideology negates the concept of that becoming bigotry, regardless of how zealous it might be.

For instance, we refuse to tolerate people breaking into our homes and stealing our things. Is that bigotry? After all, we are refusing to tolerate those who are of the opinion that their things belong to us. No, it's not bigotry, because there is a wholly rational justification for it.

The same holds true here: There is no need to tolerate those who either are supporters of Nazi ideology, those who idolize its imagery (and thus allow its spread), and those who apologize for it, and that refusal of tolerance is not in itself bigotry because there are numerous logical justifications (the Holocaust ring a bell?) for that refusal.

I think people are more worried about freedom of speech and how liberally the term "Nazi" is being thrown around these days. Nazism is evil of course, but ideas should be fought with logic, reasoning, and debate. Resorting to violence to suppress free though is the very definition of fascism. Yes free speech can hurt, alienate, and divide, but the risk is far better than the alternative. If you attempt to silence those you disagree with you'll develop no fortitude.

There's a difference between 'no-platforming' and employing the 'heckler's veto.' Indeed, no-platforming is a right exercisable by the owner of private property, if their property is to be used to give one a platform to speak. That's all well and good. However the heckler's veto is a means of silencing someone by drowning out what they're trying to say by being louder and incoherent, so as to make paying attention to the speaker impossible. During the months leading up to the election, there were a lot of street fairs being held in Portland OR. Portland OR isn't staunchly anything as far as political leanings are concerned (no place is, surely), but it's certainly a blue state.

However, when I was attending one of these fairs, I witnessed something that I felt was encouraging. A few denizens had set up a tent that was more or less a Republican advocacy group, a pro-Trump information booth, if you will. They had hats, stickers, buttons and other such knickknacks... but what was so interesting to me was that no one was harrying them. They were vending their wares, unmolested. I'll leave it at that.

And in all cases, of course the people saying, "XYZ furry is a nazi!" never link to any videos/books/posts/etc of them actually saying, "Hitler was awesome," "The Holocaust was a good idea," or "I'm a Nazi" or whatever. Which I've always found very telling.

But let's give the accusers the benefit of the doubt and assume the people you're talking about are in fact, really Nazis. Wouldn't they have already dealt with far more PR issue than the fandom could ever hope to give?

And even if they haven't, doesn't this kind of empower them, by making them seem even more avant-garde? By publicly shaming them, aren't you doing nothing but getting their names out there and causing people to look more into them, to see their videos, speeches, art, and more of what they have to say? I never would have even heard of Foxler and his Furry Raiders, had ya'll not made such a big deal about them, advocating violence against them and making all this drama around them.

What's more, how will we know who the real Nazis/Fascists/etc are if the label is thrown around with no regard for its meaning and just throw the word out like it's going out of style?
