The AC report

I think that this has to be one of the best if not the best con that I’ve ever attended. Maybe not so much because the con staff did an excellent job, which they did, but because I think I had the balance right. I didn’t have that constant feeling that I needed to rush around, and there was never a time where I felt that the weekend was passing to quickly. A lot of times I looked at the clock and marveled how much fun I already had, and how much time left to do more. I don’t know if it was because I was in kind of a funk before the con and this lifted the gloom, or not. But whatever, I had a great time. The events are starting to blur into one event of awsomeness.
I got in Wednesday night and linked up with my roomies
dracopawz and Dekadens. Dek had recently gotten his fursuit which just looked fantastic. I took many reference photos. Thursday most everyone else I knew started showing up, and the night culminated with Savant’s rodent party. Savant is a great party organizer. He had rodent plushies, multiple types of cheeses, obscure rodent based board games, buttons for the non-rodents to wear so they could be honorary rats, and he had even acid etched rodent art onto glasses that we could take home. Everything to bring out the rodent inside. A very cool party.
Friday opened the doors to the dealer’s room where I supported a number of artists. I didn’t go crazy, but I bought more images than I have in a while. Caribou was happy that I bought more of her obscure species. I mingled, kept catching up with friends, and oogled at the new fursuits. The night built up towards the Big Gulp party which was way packed. It did a lot better than I thought that it would considering it was in the Doubletree almost a half mile from the con. Even though we had one of those conference rooms we spilled out into the hallways for a while. There was more mingling, and I got to talk to some furs that I pretty much never get to talk to. Even loosened up to doodle some.
Saturday had more mingling, and later I attended a really good art panel about drawing wings. It was hosted by
 Vantid,
 Nambroth, and
Rah-Bop who all did a great job. Later that night my roomies convinced me to indulge in some spirits, and I got inebriated my one time for the year.
Sunday morning Savant texts me that there is an owl, a real one, in the dealers room. I immediately grab my stuff and get down there. After pictures, and more purchases, I get cleaned up, attend another art panel focusing on the ability to adapt a new style quickly, and then go to Uncle Kage and 2 gryphon’s combined charity show. For years now a lot of us have closed the con with a trip to Bucca di Beppo. Massive amounts of Italian food. We brought the leftovers to the zoo.
Monday had extended goodbyes and I was home a few hours before midnight. Easily my best weekend of the year.

Another 2 days of hanging around and chatting with people probably still wouldn't have been enough to hang out with as many as I would have liked to. I probably missed a good half-dozen parties going on somewhere that I would have enjoyed, if they all weren't crammed into 2 nights. *laughs*
It was really great seeing you again and as always, I look forward to next time. :)
It's hands down the highlight of my summer, and almost the best part of the year.
Thank you for the compliment. I think I need to work what I have a lot more. I'm way impressed by you, and how you made that sculpture so fast.
I'm glad that I could help you have such a good time. See you next year.
