The episodes are massively hit or miss. It's either really effing funny... or I sit there bored for 30 minutes hoping for something good to happen. It's like American Dad. I know it has fans, but fuck, I just watch it and... ponder how the fuck the show is still on. That's all I can think about. Ever.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that.

FG had to hire a new set of writers after the cancellation, writers who clear didn't get the tone of the show. Everyone thinks "Oh, anyone can write for FG!" especially after that stupid South Park episode. And, well, this proves beyond a doubt how untrue that is.

The flash backs just don't make sense anymore. With the old FG, if they were talking about sex, the flashback would be about sex. If it was about driving, the flashback would be about driving. Now it's just flashbacks of random crap.

Pretty much. The problem is that people were saying "oh, the flahsbacks are random" during the old FG days, and when they applied it to the new FG, you can clearly see how wrong they are.

It's like saying Ren & Stimpy is just about fart and crude jokes, and yet clearly seeing the change in quality after John K was kicked off.

I agree one billion percent. As much as I think South Park is the best animated show on television now, that episode did more to kill Family Guy than anything else. And it's totally not true.

Advertisers have been, and always will be, the target audience. Viewers are there to get the advertisers. If people -will- watch a Futurama with new voice actors, and the network saves $$$ by going that way, then it's the right business move, regardless of what the fans really want.

Now, I don't think that will be the case, I think a Futurama with different actors would be a ratings bomb. But someone is gambling differently.

See, I hate the Simpsons (hate) but I love Futurama. I don't find them similar at all in any way.

Bender and The Professor was my only recourse, he was friggin hilarious. But everyone else kinda blended in like Fry being the moron, Leela being the obvious lesbian, Zoidberg being the emo, um...black Jamaican guy, stupid asian girl, and...I think that's it. I will say it was funnier than the simpson but I wish they'd expand on some of the funny side-jokes in the series...like actually taking a vacation to the edge of the universe lol

Okay.. small clarification.
Apparently FOX is asking all of the original cast to audition for the roles, in an effort to get them to re-negotiate.
Which is still a dick thing to do, but not quite the same as re-casting. (Yet)

Yeah, it is... and FOX knows that recasting would be a bad move, but the fact this got public it's an even bigger dick move.

This news here sucks, lol fail move on fox's part, if Futurama is back with new VA's....not watching, it will not be the same, as i will not be able to adjust to fry having a diff voice, or just about anyone else, Bender and Leela Included (and i like Katy Sagal :D, Billy West is as well, losing them will make watching not the same at all..)

Family Guy being Brought back may have been a good move for them ratings, and financially after the campaign to bring FG back worked, but now, imo, and some others, Family Guy has gotten more tired, lamer, and beaten like a dead horse, with rehashed occurring segments and humor, and taking shit from pop culture for making random, sometimes unrealted jokes, since i guess they cannot make up there own original humor it seems, and the show just does feel more forced, and pushed, now that you point that out, very good way to put it.

I watch FG time from time, but its one of those shows you can sit back, watch, and turn off your brain, since it lack build, story, and a such, like watching a bad b-grade horror movie for lol's, or bored on early noon, stuck watching Steve Wilko, or hilariously bad talks shows, some of which are scripted, not smart tv, but sadly amusing in a guilty way, though, i stay the hell away from Reality tv, that stuff is the cancer to tv.

Simpsons should of ended at season 10, i love the show, was growing up as a very young kid, watching it, till i was a teen, but then it got worse, and pushes further then it should be let to go on, and i watched it way less....

its gone on far too long, you can tell, there show quality has dwindled badly since then story and build wise, its so apparent, hasn't been a memorable episode since the earlier days of the show, it needs to be put to rest soon imo.

More so that Groening had total control over the content of that show. i listened to the commentary of the whole first season and he REALLY loved that show, and kinda thought the simpsons had grown stale (along with the rest of us).

That's what made Futurama great. Anything you could think of... you could do. Anything. At all. Simpsons? While it still had it's "out there" moments it had to remain grounded in reality for the most part.

There's a dispute, and FOX is playing hardball to quell demands from the voice artists to ask for more money. It's a tactic they've done before, with the Simpsons actually.

The real problem is, even though the show was renewed, the budget was slashed due to Comedy Central picking it up. Believe me, I hate FOX too, but I'm not really a huge fan of Futurama, so I'm not jumping in anger but taking a more level-headed approach.

Now true, doesn't say crud about changing the voice-actors, but if the final word is going to be cast then, it would seem rather . . . pointless doing this if a) the final word is already engraved and b) the voice actors were going to be changed.

at least they're not "redo-ing" the old episodes - Zappa was great, but 'upgrading' old classic records without leaving the originals in print is revisionist history

Here in Germany they'll dub the show with the usual voice actors. But unfortunately the German voice actors aren't as talented as the original ones. Well we're all doomed xD

dude, it's FOX network. I live in another continent and I know they're a major let down on most things. :P it's home to some of the worst reality shows ever thought up with. And yet stuff like The Mole, struggle with getting an audience. ;_;

Im partly glad to see they want it back on TV, but then again i also share the same concerns as everyone else :p. I love futurama, it is (or atleast was) far better than simpsons IMO.

I just hope that they bring it back and atleast try to keep it to the same quality it used to be. but im not gonna hold my breath, it will undoubtedly be different, now that fox will have a much closer eye on it throwing their own "suggestions" into the works.

Comedy Central sold it back to Fox? New to me. Well, I guess new episodes is good, especially if it's the same writers, but the good old voice actors will be missed.

I know this has been mentioned but Fox pulled this tactic before with The Simpson's VAs, purely as a way to get them to lower their demanded salary. What worries me more is the reduced writing team, but hey, the show's moing to a different network with a much lower budget. I don't have high hopes either.

Comedy Central tends to ruin things, but... we'll see. And I know this is a FOX tactic, but it's a tactic they'd go through with.

Proving once again that Fox Network doesn't know a good thing when it makes them millions of $$$ or when it sits on their face and wiggles its animated genitals in their mouth (even though it's Dr. Zoidberg's and not Leela's - come to think of it, maybe that's the problem!)

I love Futurama and am glad to have the 4 Seasons & 4 Movies on DVD, so that will have to do - I am NOT supporting Fox for once again face fucking my favorite animated series.

I don`t know who the hell is FOX but i think they are making a big mistake.

This doesn't suprsise me at all. FOX has been known to run perfectly good shows like firefly into the ground. Still, it won't bother me mutch if the writing quality is good as it was.

Ill miss the voice of Hermes, Farnsworth, and Zoidberg yet I can do without Peggy Bundy voicing Leyla. Shes supposed to portray a young, cyclops hottie but that annoying bitch from "Married With Children" doesnt really do it for me.

Darn it, I wasn't much of a fan for futurama, but I did like it. The VAs of it were cool the way it was, curse you FOX. I like Family Guy and Simpsons, I wouldn't want competition between two shows, (Like how Family Guy and Simpson were (or was it Family Guy and American Dad (btw I don't see anything good with that one)) Come on try to get the VAs back somehow. Dont try this. (Unless you are 100% sure this is a good Idea which I think it is a bad one)

I can do almost all of the voices of the characters... but out of respect for the original voice cast I would never dream of auditioning for this.. and I'm hoping that they don't find any voice over artists interested..
