you should be careful with it...it's being investigated/villanized by the FBI right now...people who are pushing it and marketing for it are being put on watch lists n' shit...mostly because it threatens the status quo...

That's not true. They're attempting to try and keep track of people who are trafficking huge amounts of bitcoin mainly for tax reasons, but bitcoin itself isn't being investigated or villanized. Some of the buy/sell sites like coinbase actually work with the government to report larger transactions, I think over $10,000 or close to that.

Need to be careful with it in general...40,000 bitcoins worth a whopping 72 MILLION dollars were stolen by online pirates the other day...a friend of mine lost a handful in the theft.

I haven't touched it since way back when it was just starting and you had to go through shady means to buy/sell them. I hear it's much more straight-forward now, but still can be kinda risky depending on how you go about it.

I am actually afraid of using Bitcoin. There is a rumor that once you convert to Bitcoin, there is no way of converting back. To change your Bitcoin back to real cash would require going through a third party service and they charge a fee. For the longest time, I've thought long and hard about giving it a try, but the thought of losing money using Bitcoin, be it changing to or changing from, is what scares me.

Wow, bitcoin is a hell of an offer. I think there's an astronomical conversion rate on bitcoin right now. A user on reddit sold 133 bitcoin for $2m USD recently, so Bitcoins might be a biiit out of most people's price range.

I am not asking for whole bitcoins. It would be like any regular commission like $50usd worth of bitcoin for a headshot drawing which is only about 0.003btc.

NP, I've been accepting BTC, LTC, $, Doge, and LDOGE for a very long time. In case of payments you should use Coinbase for both pricing and payments. And BEFORE you start make sure to state if the BTC (or other alt) is to be paid BEFORE OR AFTER the work is completed. I highly recommend after since the prices are subject over time change.

EX.
BTC in the value amount of $10 is to be paid after the work is completed. This way you get paid what you are exactly owed and the buyer doesn't over or underpay since you are tying payments to a fixed price. Coinbase can do this for you automatically. The buyer just types in the amount and the transaction will automatically take place at all the correct values.

I saw a thing recently where the bitcoin transaction fees were like some $16 or so just to hopefully have the transaction done in an hour. Kind of puts a damper on the smaller-dollar transfers...

Years and years ago, when bitcoin was new - someone offered me 900 bitcoins for a project and I turned it down. I told them real money or nothing. I think about it every morning when I wake up.
