Mod Update - Almost Done
Been working on the mod a little here and there, and progress is getting done. Ran into a few technical problems due to the limitations of the Half-Life engine.
The first issue was the final level, which I wanted to take place in a shopping mall with lots of windows and objects on shelves to get destroyed during the extended gunfight. However, that didn't happen. I made the shops and the engline did something known in the industry as "shitting the bed". To put that into normal speak, there's a limit to how many "things" that aren't walls you can have in a Half-Life map, (in this case, brush entities) and I overshot that number without trying. I read a bit of advice recently which was "map for the engine, not your dreams.", and if the dream in this case is a shoping mall full of breaky things, I might have to scrap that idea and do something more "conventional". It's a shame, because I thought it looked cool. You can see what I had so far here-

The other issue was just today. I was trying to get sound to loop so I could have a ringing telephone. Unfortunately, you can't just have a sound loop in Half-Life, no, you need to put some cue information in your wav. The problem was the sound editing program I was using couldn't do that, and the ones that could seemed to be old as balls. The sound clip was fairly long (about 4 or 5 seconds) so I just set it up to start ringing when you enter the room. Not ideal, but much quicker and easier than faffing about with old wav and .cue files. Worst case, I can copy paste the clip to make it as long as needed. Again, a brute force sollution, but easier than faffing around with old programs.
I want to make another finale instead of just ending at a fairly minor level, but I'll have to think of something.
