I had to take one of my puppies to the vet after he spent most of yesterday having diarrhea and vomiting a little bit. They gave him a parvo test, three shots, and he's on two separate oral medications. They also prescribed his sister with two oral medications as a preventative since she's with him all the time and there's the chance she has it too even though she's asymptomatic.
Photos of medications, there's two for each of them but I only took photos of one each cause I thought it'd be redundant:

He seems to be getting worse again and has been vomiting off and on since 6pm. I need to take him to the vet to do overnight care but it's $300 for the first night and $100 for each subsequent night. I've put up more characters for sale, including several who I really don't want to part with, but my puppy's life means more. Please help me if you can. The vet said usually it only takes 2 days of overnight care, but some need up to a week.
I'm selling several characters. A lot of them have extra art (some by me). Prices are based on what I paid for the design + the extra art (or the cost of my art with ones with art by me).

I wish you and your pup the best and you're in my thoughts ;;
Have you asked the vet about payment plans? I know some are willing.
Our vet doesn't offer payment plans, but we'll see if we can discuss something with them when we go in.
I couldn't imagine my cat going through such awful disease. I really hope things get settled!
Vaccines do not work immediately! It can take up to 2 weeks for her to build immunity to the vaccine, which means she is at risk to the virus if she comes in contact with it! Vaccines work by stimulating the immune system to build antibodies, but it is not an immediate effect, and the effectiveness of the vaccines depends completely on that individual animal's immune response (meaning that even vaccinated animals can catch things they have been vaccinated against if their immune response to the vaccine was low). Also, one shot does not fully protect; usually you have to get the shots boostered at least once (depending on the age of the animal, for young puppies it is sometimes suggested to continue to booster until they are 16 weeks old; though I don't know how old your puppies are or where they were in their vaccine series).
The best thing to do would be to keep her quarantined from her brother and any areas where her brother has been. Parvo can live in the environment for YEARS if it is porous (such as outside in the dirt). Clean any items they have shared thoroughly with bleach: blankets, toys, bowls, etc.
I would hate for your other puppy to catch it. I'm sure you're already aware, but the virus is devastating and it really takes a toll on the puppies. There's no cure for it, so all you can do is offer fluid support and treat them symptomatically to make them comfortable as the virus runs its course. It's really, really rough, and I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this. We treat it occasionally at my work and it's so hard to watch the poor animals feel so awful while we help them towards recovery.
That being said, is there any way that I could donate? I know how expensive this can get. :( Our last parvo case had to stay a week and the bill was over $1,000 after all the treatments/fluids/etc they received.
Also, I don't know what area you live in or if these are viable options for you; but some vet offices around here take outside lines of credit. There's a couple different "popular" ones around here, the most common being Care Credit or ScratchPay. It's basically like a line of credit used specifically for vet offices. They take a look at your credit score and then decide how much they can offer for you; you use that to pay the vet, and then have a certain amount of time to pay back the money (sometimes you get a couple months interest free), like paying off a credit card. Again, I don't know if these are viable options for you, but it might be something to look into if you can't raise the money quickly enough. Since the vet office will be getting paid immediately, they shouldn't have too much of a problem with it (hopefully).
I've done plenty of research about parvo and everything since he first started showing signs of nausea (even when he was first getting sick he didn't have diarrhea and we thought it was potentially something else), we're about to move and we're not sure where it came from since they haven't interacted with any other dogs and only go outside to be leash trained and to my in-laws. Though it's possible that someone carried it on their shoes and he got exposed to it in that way.
As of this morning he's been left at the vet because he took a turn for the worse and started vomiting water and Pedialyte. They're giving him subcutaneous injections at the moment (he's too dehydrated for an IV) and they'll be trying an IV line later tonight after more subcutaneous injections.
I don't have any credit history (never had a loan or debt) because no one told me it was important to accrue debt growing up so I'm a little screwed in that regard. ;;
But if you'd like to donate, my paypal is maxxmissions[at]gmail.com but only if you're super comfortable with it. ;;
Also, sorry for the vet spam; I've just seen waaay too many cases where an animal gets sick and the vets don't educate the owners enough? Parvo is just so contagious that it really scares me when folks have multiple animals in the home. I really hope your other baby doesn't catch it. Hopefully her immune system will be better and she'll be able to fight off anything she comes in contact with.
And yes, absolutely! As I said, I know how pricey this can get. I work at a vet office and hospitalization tends to rack up debt pretty fast :c But it really means a lot to me to see responsible owners like you who care enough about your babies to put them first and try to get the best care that you can for them~ I'll be sure to donate what I can, and have also signal boosted your journal. Hopefully it helps!
I'm thinking her immune system is doing better or the second round of shots kicked in better for her. From my reading, if her brother makes it through he should also be naturally immunized and not be at risk of getting it again (or at least not at risk for some time). I'm about to bleach their kennels down and the floors to prevent contamination because we do go visit my in-laws and they have two chihuahuas (one of which is an itty bitty teacup) and we wouldn't want to spread it there.
Thank you so much for the advice, what you're able to donate, and the boost. It means a lot to have support while all of this is happening. ;;
