Well then I'm staying far away from whatever woods those are. A place where you can tell someone not to do something, and they do it anyways, you tell them not to do so again, and they do anyway. Yeah. Sounds like third grade.

You do know why they do it, don't you? They do it because they know this is the reaction they'll get. People who tend to react with righteous indignation attract more bullies than most, because their behavior is predictable.

And actually, regardless of whether or not the people keep it up even when asked to quit, it's reminiscent of kindergarten to react this way to it. Sort of the equivalent of "Teacher, he's looking at me!" or "He won't stop touching me!" in the shrillest voice possible.

Basically people who lay out these very strict, plain, and easy to understand rules just come across as being joyless authoritarians. Whether they are or not, I can't say. But that's how it comes off to people who don't know them. And while it would be nice if people respected others' wishes, it's just a sad fact that such lists of rules are more or less saying "I'm a jerk, come pester me."

Aight so if some one started poking you in the face, and you said stop, but instead of stopping they just go "what are you gonna do about it?" and then kept doing it, you wouldn't get even the slightest annoyed? The first part. Considering nobody on the Internet can actually physically poke me, no, it wouldn't annoy me. And even if it did, I could, and probably would, just block them. And that's the thing. I respect someone's right to be annoyed and to block the annoying person once it reaches a certain point, but my respect ends the minute they trot out these silly little lists and apply them to everyone, basically threatening anyone who crosses them. If you wanna put the smackdown on individuals for bugging you, that's fine, but I have no sympathy for people who threaten to do it to people who haven't even done anything yet. You say "preventative," I just say "rude and arrogant."

No. It'd be a dick move to not have a warning sign, and then hit them. To put a list up is a clear sign of what not to do. To ignore is to be a dick or ignorant. To be warned after violating, and do it again, That is challenging them to do something.
