Going to Harvard!
This is getting real now. I’m on my way to Cambridge, MA for two years of graduate school at Harvard (maximum five years if a good internship is found). I might be back this winter and next summer for a short vacation in the OC.
I’d always dreamed of the chance to engage design and such issues at a higher level. The economy tanked, I was laid-off, and my applications to grad school were thrown together with a now-or-never attitude. I had no idea I’d actually be accepted at Harvard; I figured, $70 so what. I’ll be doing a Master of Architecture in Urban Design, hopefully with a certificate from the school of policy or MIT’s planning division. Basically, I’ll be studying what one does in Sim City with a few forays into designing specific public spaces in detail. :) As a little kid, I was obsessed with EPCOT, Tomorrowland, and all things futuristic with elevator music. This is my chance to actually discuss the real potential of urban civilization in the future.
I’m so sad to be leaving Southern California and leaving behind all my furry friends though. Two nights ago, after saying goodbye to a furry buddy, I just cried so much thinking that I may not see him or anyone around here for years. Hanging out at the beach, spending an evening at Disneyland, or a morning watching wealthy cougars drive their Mercedes to get a latte… It’s definitely tough leaving the OC, I grew up here. All the furs I’ve been with down here, I hold so close to my heart, I’ll miss you guys (and girl) so much! I am excited about meeting more furs out in Boston. I’ll certainly be closer to AC and all those NE cons. The move isn’t permanent as I intend to move back to the West as soon as my career is launched.
Starting today and finishing Thursday, I’ll be driving up to Reno, NV and then across on I-80 with my Meep – uh, I mean Jeep. I suppose I could fly, but at 25, I have a few more things I want with me and the freedom of a vehicle. The logic of driving there just worked out right. I’ll get to see red states, lol. I won’t really be available until the weekend of the 20th for much. All furry art is on hold for a few weeks. The first module starts on the 2nd of September. If I could say one thing with this journal, it’s a thank you to all my furry friends in SoCal, and that I love you very much!
etc…

Yeah, it's gotta be tough moving away from CA... if I was from there I'd never want to leave!
Hope you have a better time of finding furs in Boston then when I visited there in 2006.
You know, you WILL be driving right near me.. XD ;)
No, but seriously. Congratulations. :3
I know you'll miss SoCal but as you said it won't be forever;
and when you've come back I'm sure it will have been worth it!! :3
You'll certainly enjoy yourself out there, Foxer. :3
Just think of all the excitement!! :D
When you get settled out here in the Boston area, I can point you at some groups and mailing lists to find out what's going on and who's out here. Certainly, if you can make it, FurFright would be a worthwhile trip!
OK ... I've resisted this long, but I can't any more.
Are you going to park your car in Harvard yard? ;P
(Amazingly after living here almost 35 years, I still have my "R"s. :))
You have been awarded additional time.
grats!

I'm glad that you are taking your Jeep. The Berkshire Mountains have had most of their sharp edges worn off over the past couple of hundred million years, but they are very beautiful in their own way, especially during fall and spring breaks. Their luscious fall colors will provide plenty of spectacular grist for your photographic mill. You will love it! *hugs*
Now go out there and be brave.
Something incredible may be starting, make sure you have the guts to see it through to the end.
Congratulations, and Good luck!!
i am so jealous!!!!!
i may go there for a masters in Drama Dance or Music :3
I'm going to miss you terribly. Evoke all that you can from that mind of yours. You'll bring such great things.
And have fun, take in all that you can, and you're bound to see/hear a lot.
PUHLEEZE keep in touch.
With love,
-Zega
I WAS GONNA GET INTO WEST POINT MILITARY ACADEMY!! D:
But i have like a four year wait. lol
So im not going there ;~;
But da, Congratulations, it will be neat to see you do...higher education...things...with mind...
Have some great seafood for me! =P
I miss mah home state.
i know where you're coming from in your design interests, i love that future of yesterday architecture and design and tho i am not an architect myself i will be working with them in the design phases for that stuff.
be safe! thats number one certainly, even if we dont know ya we love hearing from ya =P and one day maybe i'll see you at AC and can chat you up about urban design and architecture and the like!
congratulations!
*HUGSQUEEEEEZE* <333
Dineegla (aka Dr. Kristiaan Michells!)
Congratulations! :D
just watch out for the MA drivers. We'd hate to lose a creative and good-natured mind like yours to an auto accident.
I'll be starting my Bachelor in English studies in late September as well, so good look to both of us ;)
