Welcome to another Furry Musicians newsletter! The nights are getting longer and the air is getting colder. As summer draws to a close and Autumn rears it's head it starts to get a lot more unpleasent outside. Jumper weather, for sure. Oh ye of little sleeves!
For this edition,
AutumnSounds wrote up a little tutorial piece for this one on the use of scales in music. So I'll let them continue:

Hey! This week we're going to look at using scales to improvise for your track. This will be perfect if you're starting out or stuck creatively.
What you'll need!
Scales in your DAW. Either pop them into your piano roll by hand or use this pack I prepared earlier which simply contains western scales individually in .mid format.
What do we do?
Drop your chosen scale into your DAW. I chose "A Natural Minor" from my Scales Midi pack above. It'll look something like this Now we easily know what notes we can use in our chosen scale.
Use an arpeggiator or program in any notes you like, using only the notes available in the scale and any octave, so don't be shy about going above and below your scale. I used a rising and falling arpeggio in this example.
How does it sound?
Example audio clip. With my super simple 3-bar sequence I've created, using the scale I chose as a guide, I can go ahead and build on it. Here's the sequencer view of the sample clip above.
So there we have it!
See you next time!
