Payment Information
7 years ago
I decided to make this journal because there are a few things I need to clarify with my clients, which is not only important for me but to other users.
First of all, as a lot of you know Paypal isn't necessarily furry friendly and a lot of furs have been banned from using their services if they find out they are furry related. This is because they assume that any furry related transaction is porn and they do not allow sales for pornography. Paypal usually links this to the notes attached to the transactions that say keywords like "Furry, porn, any links to FA, nudes" etc
Not only that, but now that paypal has introduced the attached shipping address to every transactions, some accounts are being banned for not "shipping items" because they do not attach a tracking number to their transactions. With every transaction there is a box you can click that says "No shipping needed" if you do not click that box it will automatically send your shipping information. Not only is this, kind of sketchy but you are giving out personal information that isn't necessary.
With all this being said, whenever you send a payment to me please make sure you click "No address needed"
and in the Note please ONLY include your username and no other information, if you choose to leave a note.

But yes I know a few people who got banned because they were selling or buying furry related art through paypal and paypal is just now punishing users who dont provide tracking information when there is a shipping address attached x.x If you have too many transactions with no tracking info attached you will get banned for suspicious activity.
And thats so stupid.... I've been seeing artist looking into different payment options but I don't see many buyers wanting to use anything other than paypal
*ETA* Sometimes I have to do it after something is accidentally marked as 'shipping required' or they didn't have the option, it doesn't take long :o
Under each one of them, mark as 'shipped'
It will bring you to this screen http://prntscr.com/lgjqvm mark as order processed and double check that 'tracking information is not required'
after I saw this journal i remembered I had tons of "needs attention" so i contacted paypal and he told me to do the same thing. Now it's all sorted out c:
However, for business tax reasons my country needs to know/proof where my customers are from (if they are from Japan, I need to add additional tax, if they are outside then I don't need). ^^;
It gives little bit of peace of mind to actually have proof, that someone accepted your TOS (not just say they did read it before commissioning).
Also, customer can't add any notes to invoices. So you can control all the bad keywords out from the transaction.
I really hope PayPal doesn't actively start looking for artists to ban. I know Patreon had a lot of trouble earlier this year with adult art payment processing. They moved processing overseas so it looks like there is no convincing PayPal of allowing adult art if a site as big as Patreon struggled.
It seems people have gone out of their way to target anything with sexual content in the last few years. Pretty scary time for adult artists.
Thank you for sharing this! ;n;
As much as I want to agree with this, a lot of this info is outdated or just wrong?
I've never heard Paypal banning people from selling furry art or referring to themselves as furries in general, seeing as a lot of
suit makers do furry art just fine without fear of being banned. The only people that I've seen banned recently were people who
don't use their real name on their paypal account ( which is against their TOS ) so make sure you put your legal name on an account
that acts essentially like a bank. Paypal does have a problem with NSFW art though since it's considered"pornographic material" and ever
since the sex worker laws that passed sites have been cracking down. Generally, it's a good idea to send out invoices instead of letting customers
pay via your paypal.me or sending as goods + services. That way you can make a template, link to your terms of service, say its a digital good and
you control what's actually entered in the invoice( so customers can't put THANKS FOR THE PORN in the "description" box n' stuff ). Not only that, if you
are a professional freelancer, invoices can be organized cleanly so you know exactly who is who and what they ordered.
As for the shipping, Paypal did away with the "no shipping needed" box, so it's not actually an available option to put in your invoices anymore
and customers paying goods & services option are forced to put in their billing address no matter what. ( I've heard from many people that they can't find
the no shipping box entirely, maybe they added it back in the last update a couple weeks ago?? but I haven't seen it ).
If your scared of being iced for not shipping items correctly, after every finished commission I do, I go to the invoice and mark the invoice as "shipped"
with no shipping address tracker needed. That way it's processed and tells Paypal it's been delivered.
I've been using Paypal for a very very very long time and have been through all it's dumb UI and policy changes and trust me I would be the first to say
that Paypal isn't really good when it comes to digital good sellers. But unfortunately, neither is any other company on the market right now so we just gotta deal
TLDR : Paypal won't ban you for being a furry, please for the love of god start using invoices and stop sending as just goods + service
EDIT 1: I realized the TLDR sounded mean I didn't mean to be LMAO I just know that invoices have saved my life and have actually helped me win a wrongful chargeback once so!!
