Know a good comic penciller?
As some of you know, I've been running solo as Depth's artist now that
twinkle-sez had to bow out due to health issues.
While I -can- continue to work on it alone, it is MAJORLY draining on me, because I have other projects to do and producing at the quality you folks have come to expect from me is not easy. I'm able to produce a page in roughly 3.5 days but that's half my week gone JUST working on Depths and a penciller would really help me out.
So, what does a penciller need to do the job?
The penciller is responsible for page layouts (Doing thumbnails for the page, getting approval from Lani, before beginning further production) panels and text as well as the figure drawings. Because I paint the backgrounds, any penciller for Depths would mostly just be drawing the characters and will be leaving the backgrounds VERY rough, like, VERY rough. No need to spend much time on details at all. In fact, having a building shape with a little note on it saying something like 'factory' or 'hospital' would be sufficient.
Again, the penciller would primarily be dealing with figure drawings and making eye-pleasing page layouts and handling text balloons. I'll be doing any onomatopoeia.
Pay grade is $50-60 per page on a weekly schedule, and would include working with
lei-lani quite a lot.
If you're interested or know someone interested, there'll be a test script given to you that you will then make a sample page from. This will test your ability to quickly research, create dynamic posing and angles, and overall visual style to fit in with the kind of story the Depths is.
Extensive knowledge of Clip Studio Paint is a must (Though if you know how to do panels and word balloons in Photoshop, that'll work too, but I use Clip Studio Paint, and any pages must be compatible with CSP) and also the ability and availability to work with Leilani.
Each page should only take about 4-5 hours to do, characters should be fairly clean, enough to ink from. Remember, your job is to get the page ready to be inked and colored. If I know where the light source is supposed to be and what lines to use, that's good enough for me. Hands left in blobbish shapes or piles of scribbles with no discernible lead lines are no good to me, but they also don't NEED to be perfectly finished drawings either.

Would this open the door to other possible paying jobs that Lani might have?
How long-term is this project?
Yes, growth for pay is what we're aiming for. The more money the Patreon makes, the more money we all make.
Possibly; Lani is very much wanting to expand should the Patreon grow large enough to support it.
At least 2 years as long as the Patreon support maintains.
Exactly HOW important is that requirement?
Also, what about doing the speech balloons by hand?
Also, all text, panel borders, speech balloons and onomatopoeia are done digitally in Clip Studio Paint at industry standard sizes because we're not discounting the possibility of getting a print version of Depths at some point. If you're unfamiliar with the standards and practices of print-ready formatting, that's even more work I have to do, and again, I might as well just pencil it myself in that case.
