Sounds like some shady bs there. It could be possible that a disgruntled customer reported you and twist it to sound like you broke a terms of agreement?

Adult Content is not allowed, someone probably used mom/dad's credit card to buy from you and parents found out then reported it to get their money back. Or just some asshole twat who wanted a refund because they couldn't manage a budget and overspent on art.

The refund may have been denied but they still shut you down. Look online for people who have contacted Paypal Legal on their own without a lawyer, that may be an option. You can get a standard form letter online most likely.

I've heard one person that got their PayPal taken down was taking some payments through Ko-fi where it could go to a card I guess instead of a PayPal account but folks could still pay with PayPal? Not 100% sure since I just read it through a journal awhile back but figured I'd mention in case it may help

now when Paypal closes out/bans/terminated your account do they automatically deposit what ever funds you have in your Paypal account into your bank or do they just rob you of the money?

Depends on the issue, had a friend who's an artist get $5000 locked up in Paypal and still can't get it back. It happened in 2006.

Nope, because it's in the Terms of Service. A violation of TOS means they don't have to pay out any funds in the account. It's crap but that's how it works. They are not a bank, so they don't fall under US banking laws. Every transaction through the site is the buyer paying Paypal and then Paypal giving money to the seller separately. If they deem a Violation took place, they don't have to pay the seller.

Jesus, this is making me really reconsider using PayPal. I know this isn't how it currently works, but damn that should be illegal for PayPal to do. Like, I get if there was an illegal act being made in terms of actual law, not ToS, PayPal holding funds for investigation. But for simple ToS violations, at $5000 that should be a straight crime keeping the entire amount. They should have to pay out to their linked banks, taking a fee for violation, and then shutting the account down. Smh.

I know it's a risk pretty much with any furry material being sold through PayPal since their ToS basically rules out 80% of furry art sold through there, and it is our responsibility to comply with their ToS. It's also something we must accept can happen as of right now, however it just seems... immoral to go "Well we'll keep it because we can, ToS says so. TOS in that case would NOT be upheld in most courts of law, TOS is only "Generally" upheld in specific courts, and that would still be a case of grand larceny no matter how Payfails lawyers try to spin it, tell your friend/artist to lawyer up and go for it, they'd likely rather pay out then deal with a legit lawsuit.

They did. They have a legal team who looked into it and dealt with Paypal’s Team. The money is gone.

Reading the comments above, is correct in stating that adult content is not allowed.

I have heard of artist having problems with paypal, simply because a customer linked their NSFW ref in the comment part when paying on paypal.

Or them just linking their FA accounts, to show that it is them when paying.

Even if you dont think it is the case, when moving over to a new payment option, I would only send invoices and tell people (maybe in your TOS) not to send any commission info by the payment option you are using.

Also I know that having to many items that need to be "Shipped", can cause problems. Because when paying, some people dont mark that no shipping is needed.

We lost a case were someone force money back after buying an adopt, and we even had prof of them buying it and us giving it to them. But paypal left it up to their bank!! Which of course took their side, so a $40 adopt that we sold ended up coming back and costing us $60!!

Maybe do commissiones over commis.io (I think that’s how it’s spelled) you can directly link a bank or card to your acc and people can pay you through PayPal but it goes to your bank acc without having to go through a PayPal of yours. I hate PayPal with a burning passion. A single “tiddy” is considered ban worthy. It’s 2018 almost 2019, tiddy shouldn’t be a violation of anything that DOESNT EVEN ALLOW MINORS TO SIGN UP FOR ANYWAYS???
