My friend Uranium 235--among other aliases--wrote some fan-fiction of some of my characters at my request. I wanted a story for his in-universe self, a Hyena Brigade trooper named Uri, to tell to his squadmates. Uranium is a loquacious and prolific writer who can not only turn a phrase, but make it dance like a ballerina. Collaborating with him was a lot of fun.

Problem was, he sent me a novella, which I had to heavily edit in order to get it to fit the confines of a week's cartoons. So there was a lot of really good writing that I regretfully had to leave on the cutting room floor.

Uranium is now publishing the original story. I've recommended it to the Ursa Major Awards web site; hopefully he'll get nominated this coming season.
