...I was falsely accused for sexual assault in the past during my time at another convention. It was one of the worst experiences in my entire life. I am sorry that this happened to you, when you praised their policies. Nobody should be attacked like that.

I only had a brief read of the comments back and forth as I should be getting to bed soon, and I'm a little confused as to exactly whether FC was for or against allowing people previously convicted of being sex-offenders into their con. But here's my two cents.

What this essentially comes down to is whether or not someone believes bad people can change. From my perspective, people can and do change for the better, which is why I decide to show my mugger forgiveness when he was sentenced. Will he change for the better once released from jail? I don't know. But bad people have become good before, and I hope he can too.

While you probably shouldn't have got suckered into the trolling, you're not a bad person. You just made a mistake that's still small compared to what he was doing, where he was being intolerant of another's way of thinking, and wanted to make a battle out of it. You're the better person

You're perfectly fine. Your points are valid and most people would agree with them. For me, I would have left the discussion at an earlier point, but that reflects my unwillingness to engage with people who offer hyperbole for arguments (though I might have insisted that they tell me how the average person could know with 100% confidence that the predator was no longer a predator... instead of being a sly gaslighter who's manipulating people).

Thank you. That was exactly the point I was trying to make that the FC people couldn't possibly know whether someone who had been found guilty of sexual abuse was reformed or not.

Sexual misconduct is so endemic in the fandom that this kind of cleanup initiative is sorely needed. But yeah you shouldn't have got suckered in, truth speaks for itself. Should just dab on them haters tbqh

You can't really get rid of furries who has done such thing though. They will always be part of it because "furry" is no group that is controlled by anyone, though not all of those people who has done that will be bad forever. People can change and I certainly can't imagine a furry who's change not being welcomed by the so-called "most open minded furry fandom" in the world. I like to imagine getting rid of the action, not the person, since the person is just as important as other human beings as life. XD

I can understand the feeling of awfulness after getting into a disagreement with a troll, and looking at this from a purely objective point of view I'd say that you didn't do anything wrong throughout your replies. You are not in the wrong, and you are not a truly awful person, as everyone who has posted above me agree. I've found that the best way to deal with people like this is just to state the rules as they stand, brush off anything hurtful that they say, and leave it at that.

No - you're not wrong. Unfortunately you are dealing with a drama queen here. The fact that he won't even reveal his furry name shows he has some serious issues. The only thing you can do is to quit engaging them because they feed off the drama.

I don't even have to read it to know you are in the right. You have every right to believe in what you want to and that other person does as well. So just let it pass for there will always be someone that disagrees with you on this or that. Just go on believe in what you do believe in and enjoy your life.
