As for my personal opinion, those gorgeous animal posters you did can't go under 100USD, you'll surely find people willing to pay even more for the quality you offer ;D.
In an ideal world where I would have money to throw at good artists such as yourself, I'd say I'd be willing to pay anything ranging from 100-300 save for icons, the quality you bring is worth much more though ^^;.
Regardless, I stand by my previous statement: I think $25-$40/hour is a good range for you, depending on exactly how many hours your images take to complete.
As Robbo said $25-$40/hour is very legit and I think cell shaded full bodies should not be under 100$ they could go between 100-200$ and the simple painting start with 150-300$.
When people pay for sketches 100-150 bucks I'm sure 300 or more for a poster like that is totally worth it.
You can always try to raise the prices a bit higher when you notice that the commission slots sell out way too fast.
The tiger portrait is not just beautiful, but it's also VERY MUCH a piece that you need to be selling as merchandise and licensing; images like that are a great choice for keeping revenue going. If I were you I'd get that one on Redbubble pronto.
Your Ellenor image (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30808547/) and Nero image (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29562108/) would fit a reasonable price point of $80 to $140 USD, though on the higher end I'd want to see at least some sort of abstract background details (or leave that up to the commissioner to figure out).
Strengths of your work: Your shading is fantastic. The Nero image, the creases of the hand being shaded just so is wonderful. The clean sense of your designs is very good, and your coloring work is fine.
If you're having doubts about the worth of your artwork, reflect on what weaknesses you see in your work, and what are your plans to address them? (Art classes, workshops, inter-artist tutorials, etc.)
The better your skills, the more money your work can command. (Also, do not underestimate the importance of learning to do work FAST; honestly I see a lot more artists financial success coming from speed of work. Learn every ruthless trick you can to shave an hour here or there from your work!)
I know, and I'm planning to sell it as a prints and posters~
You said $80-$140 (I'm taking $145-$240 at the moment) is resonable price for waist up, but from my side of view is definitely not - houry rate here would be something arount $11, maybe a bit more, and it's totally unprofitable. In such case it would be better for me to work as shop assistant or even in mc donalds, doing my tiring but simple work, than create art which requires a lot of learning and years of practice as my only income. There are some comments with similar valuation but I'm replied speficically to yours because you defined it as resonable, and I think and know from my experience that it's not.
I'm don't really have doubts, as I said, it was just a question out of curiosity. I have some years of creating and of taking commissions behind, now it's my full time job, and in the meantime I have learned not only how to draw, but also how to reasonably perceive my own work. Of course I still have a lot to learn, and I don't want it to looks like I think I have all the answers because of course I'm not, but now I can see strong and weak sides of what I create, I know on what should I work and how to price my work without underpricing. In the past I would take commissions strongly under unprofitable price just to have some, now I prefer to do less, but also in better quality and higher price.
But there is one thing that I completely agree with you - importance of learning to work fast. I know that some of people even prefer to get less quality art and pay more for something which would be delivered quickly. Fast work is my main weak point, right next to the continuous procrastination. It's horrible, I know it, I'm trying to do something with that but well, it's really hard xD
Unless you have a strong reason for wanting NOT to expand in merchandise, go further than just prints and posters. It takes maybe an hour, tops, to fit and size your art relatively well to just about every product that Redbubble sells, for example. It's super heckin' easy and it's literally like, a couple clicks to start selling your design on shirts, travel mugs, sketchbook covers, etc. For the time it would take to set that up, 3-5 sales of those products would more or less pay your time investment back, and everything after that in perpetuity is gravy.
As for the reasonable-price-to-hours thing, if the waist-up format is something you see yourself doing a lot of in the future, maybe consider templating a few body types out at the inking/sketch phase, so that when those commissions come in you can shave off an hour or two? Anything that cuts the time down and maximizes the $-per-hour. :)
Portraits - $40-$60
Cell-Shaded Full-Bodies - Start at $60-$80 and go up depending on complexity
Simple Paintings - $80 and up
Detailed waist ups - Same as Cell-shaded, but can go higher based on complexity
Detailed full bodies - $80 and up not counting simple scene, with simple scene $100 and up
Scenes - $150 and up
Icons - $30-$50
Granted these are just my opinions, and may be lower than some other people's opinions, but that isn't to devalue your work. The prices can go up or down based on a couple of factors:
How difficult are some of these for you? (The longer they take to get done the more I'd charge)
Do you want to work as a commission machine just constantly turning out commissions for the general populace? Or do you just want less frequent higher paying projects? Depending on your preferences is how you should choose to market yourself. (The higher your prices, the less customers you'll have, but the more money you'll make on a project. Simple supply and demand. :3 )
But these are just my opinions based on art I've bought in the past, I'm not someone who can afford $150+ but I also don't think you should undersell yourself either.
Before I give my prices, I want to note that this is completely subjective, and that I absolutely support fair pay for artists. I may be willing to spend more than listed below if I really want a commission. if you should charge more than I list, I would never complain; it would just mean that your art may not be for me, not that your prices are unfair.
1. Animal posters: not interested / no opinion
2. Simple portraits: $40-$50
3. Cell-shaded full bodies: $50-$60
4. Simple paintings: $70-$80
5. Detailed waist-ups: $60-$70
6. Detailed full-body: $100
7. Scenes: $200 for single character with background, +$100 per additional character
9. Icons: $30-$40
id personally be willing to pay 100$usd for a single character scene.
fullbody 75
halfbody 50
bust 30
Headshot 25
im personally sketched out abd dont trust when an artist charges by the hour unless its livestreamed and even then they can get destracted, take breaks, ect. it becomes a troubling thing that can just start fights between artist and client.
but thats personally me. im sure other people have other opinions and im sure somewhere on here ive offended someone for my price opinion but other than that your art is hella gorgeous
2. Simple portraits: $40
3. Cell-shaded full-body: $60-$80
4. Simple painting: $50-$100 depending on detail
5. Detailed waist-up: No interest
6. Detailed full-body: $80-$150 depending on detail
7. Scenes: $250+
where did 8 go/
9. Icons: $25-50 depending on character detail
Simple Portraits- $45-$60
Cell-shaded fullbody- $75+
Simple Painting- $80+
Detailed waist up- not interested, but would estimate $70+
Detailed fullbody- $90+
Scenes- $200-$300+ depending on detail
Icons- $40-60 a piece
Sad to say, about 95% of the time, my art budget tops out at $40, and that's if I really push it. That's actually why I just don't buy art, most of the time; I can't afford to pay artists what they're worth, so I don't bother. I'm not going to try and talk someone down from a stated price, you know?
Would I be willing to pay $50-150 for a piece? Absolutely, but I simply can't. Sorry, I can't really be helpful in this one.
simple paintings between 60-80 again, depending
icons: i can never see it being fair to spend over 30$ on something 100x, thats me personally (even i charge a bit under that threshold myself)
obviously other things factor in such as additional characters/props.
