Hello everyone,
I'm back from another Furnal Equinox. This year was interesting in both a good and bad way. I'm typing this on my tablet so I'm sorry for any typos you encounter. Our apartment is not fully do with the renivation. Walls have been painted and the floor varnished, but the door frames need to be put in and the closet still needs to be painted and done. So a lot of our stuff can't be put back the way it was...
The good: The travel there was smooth and getting our roo at the hotel went off without an issue. We met up with a lot of friends and chilled for most of the con nights instead of working. It was a good break from working 7pm ro 2am every night. I participated in a smash tournament and won first place with consist of a hand-me-down WWE belt ( which is fitting because I played my Pikachu Libre character ), and $ 50.00. I met a lot of cool players too and we just connected. Sales were decent. I managed to get 30 badge orders and one illustration order. Sadly, not much of my merchandise sold, so I guess I won't be bring physical stuff at cons anymore.
The bad: Even though the convention surpassed the attendee count, the dealers edn also increased in size. There were way too many dealers for the convention. Because of that, a lot of artists I know said that their sales werent as good as the years before. Soriano and I struggled a bit because we didn't get that many commissions as we mostly did years past.So yeah, TOO MANY DEALERS THIS YEAR and many artists suffered because of it. For those who don't do art as a full timejob, this might be nothing, but for artists like me, this is a big deal. We have to make up for convention cost, hotel, travel and food, which is a lot. If we can't make that amount at a con, it's a con not worth going. And I'm not increasing my prices again...
During the week, I'm hanging out with my friend
qqtears and showing him around Montreal, so I won't be working for a week as I try to recoperate from the convention and help get the apartment back together. I will be streaming most of my badge commissions throughout the week. I will also put together my queue as well so everyone will know where they are on my commission list. You can contact me whenever as I will be checking my phone from time to time.
More updates yet to come.
