Your Feedback on my YCHs & Auctions, Please? // + Upcoming
6 years ago
Hey there!
As I'm pretty sure you've noticed, I did a bigger auction some days ago. And it didn't go as well as I had hoped. It wasn't the first auction, I had made the experience before that my flatsales are usually gone pretty fast, while the auctions often attract very few people. And it got me thinking, but ... I can't figure out why.
I'm wondering, are auctions just by default less interesting than flat sales?
Or do I organize them in a way that is lacking?
Or was it simply the idea/poses/setting?
Or that it was a multi character thing?
Or the timing ...?
Or something I don't think about at the moment?
If you have an opinion about that and could give me some insight, please leave a comment. That would be very helpful of you!
In the end I hope to avoid doing that many reminders, as I think that you find them as annoying as I find them, haha. And instead draw more interesting stuff for you and me.
Someone already dropped the idea: That people usually want a YCH if they like some artist's way of arting, but have a hard time coming up or communicating ideas. Which now sounds totally reasonable, once it was spelt out to me like that, hah. And with that in mind ...
Upcoming!
I like to give this another try and so I'll be posting some smaller (and cheaper) Cookie tier YCHs the next days. It's mainly for those of you who have a chubby sona or OC and would like them to be drawn by me, but never really had *the* idea. Maybe there's something for you!
And I hope it's more interesting in general, simply because, yes it's about the money. But also about the communication and connection with you guys, y'kno? I've drawn into the void for so many years, I'm tired of that. I want to send out something that you enjoy seeing.
Thanks for listening.

Also not every one interested in it are friends, close to or on good terms with others involved in the YCH. this can make others hesitant. I have seen some multi YCH sell fast before but like I said I think more numbers in following helped in that case.
What could help is do 3-4 separate ych and see if that sells or do couples so non-single people or friends can buy to put their ocs together. Those go super fast!
I say keep trying just because one flopped or didn't do as expect doesn't mean others will. you have beyond amazing skill in color, body, and fet type you will definitely be successful but with success some failure has to happen.
I have 14 years in fandom a huge majority of those years in commission sales feel free to hit me up for advice on that if need be I dont mind helping another succeed.
I wish I could be more informative and I hope this little tidbit helps.
And ... yeah, I've done some ychs before with only 1-2 chars so far (aside from the last) and I only noticed the difference in flat sales vs auctions, that's why I made this journal. Beside that, you confirmed a lot of the feelings I have. It's nice to read that and thanks for the encouraging words!
Of course I'll give it another try :^D (And probably another ...) Because it's still fun, YCHs are super fun! I didn't mean to sound desperate, haha. I was just looking for a way to improve my commission offers here, basically. And doing some more seperate ones or couple pieces sound like a good way to go!
I'm always here to help budding artists I deff loves seeing you guys go far!
An hmm yes flat rates go fast because it definitely saves the client money.
They can pay one time with a set amount. I see it almost like ebay bidding. If I bid there is no guarantee ill win while discouraging if I feel I will be outbidded I do feel for an artist its better to auction because you can get your worth amount. (some flat rates arnt bad for fast cash tho)
But some clients with fixed income on art may not be as fast for them. keeping this I'm mind broadens your pool for commission interest. TBH playing it safe going back and forth between the options never hurt either depending on your mood.
Mind you its not everyone some dont care and have more fixed art amount to spend on actions I've deff seen people auto buy oc adopts after oc adopt from singular artists. So it really depends on the following you have, and interest that comes from the numbers you have. Same with ychs. It really is just a lot of realistic thinking based on what you have and know what sells already. it can be a head ache but once you got it YOU GOT IT!
tbh you didn't sound desperate at all even if you did I dont see trying to sell something or figuring out why things dont sell as bad or in poor tastes to an artists character. In fact that speaks volumes positively on you. It makes me see that you are open to help, critique and advice. Thats very big of you and will help you grow artistically.
I hope your following and past clients can also help with honest insight I'm very sure this will help a lot more to from a buyers perspective or from those who have bought from you!
It was a great ych tho...
Thanks for the feedback, Wintie!
