► Dealing With Changes - Feedback Wanted
General
Due to new PayPal regulations imposed by the Central Brank of Brazil, we here won't have the possibility to have any foreign currency in our accounts balance anymore (like USD), as it will be automatically converted to BRL (Brazilian Reais).
That takes away the liberty of having any currency we want and to convert to our own currency only when we wanted as well. On top of adding another layer of fees and taxing when trying to buy anything in another currency, as now it forces you to use credit cards as the only option to do so (as the Paypal balance itself can't be used for international payment at all anymore), like commissioning another artist or paying for any digital good or service like a premium month of Picarto.
It often feels like here in Brazil most things are made against the population, the small ones, and only to bureaucratize things even more and in favor of the rich and big companies that want to stay established without effort and without competition...
In preparation to that, I will be slightly increasing my prices in June to cover the extra costs, forced conversions and the added limitations of PayPal.
Other than that, in an attempt to keep myself afloat while providing more artwork as I can, I have a couple points I would like to hear some feedback from you all.
• How do you feel about 'Drives' (like the past couple growth drives) and 'Fund Raisers'?
• What would you like of someone's Patreon to support it? (I currently use it as an art backlog and thus offering early access to supporters)

In answer to your questions:
- Have always enjoyed seeing drives as they have a satisfying continuity to them and equating money donated to increases in size and/or cameos seems like it's a good way of drawing in donations. Though this also assumes the time you're spending compared to the amount you are earning on each picture is profitable and that you aren't pushing yourself too hard.
- I might be an oddball, but I see Patreon mostly just as a way to consistently support an artist who I want to support and who's work I enjoy. Soooo really not sure what to suggest on that one.
Hope those help some!
As for the bullet points:
-I always kind of hate them, but I understand they can be an unfortunate necessity in times of emergency. I feel like it's really suspicious when they happen in succession, though.
-Some kind of long term commission deal, monthly sketches at the very least, maybe a role in a months long comic project.
In regards to the questions:
- I think the competition drives are always at a bit of a risk of making one set of fans a bit salty about. I think the one with Wyld worked better as there was no 'loser' as such as well as the added cameo's thing made it more interesting for people to fund it. I do think there can be drive fatigue however, so I do not think they should be done too often. Perhaps also consider varying the length of them to see which ones work best for a money to work ratio. So far you've done two rather long ones, perhaps try one half the length and see how it goes.
- I think there is a lot of Patreon fatigue out there, those that can are already donating money to those they can. Putting a commission deal on could be good, but this would then probably force you to open for commissions more regularly or people may not be willing to put into it. I'm not that hugely into Patreon myself though so I'm kinda limited on my thoughts on it.
