That E3 Nintendo Direct and hoo boy.. that Pokemon Treehouse
6 years ago
"Call Twilight Sparkle... shit's about to get magical!"
So the Nintendo E3 Direct really showed off some stuff.
Smash DLC-
We got The Hero from Dragon Quest. Which one? All of them I think. It seems he uses both a sword and magic spells. Seems Like he's going to be a pretty fun character to use. Hopefully, we'll get more than 2 tracks for DQ.
Oh yeah... we also got Banjo and Kaoozie! It's high time they got in and to be honest, they deserve it. The were a BIG part of Nintendo's history and I LOVED how they did their trailer.
There's a TON of hype for this game now and I'm looking forward to who's next.
No More Heroes 3-
Oh how long have I waited for this. I'm really looking forward to this!
Link's Awakening Remaster-
I never got to play this before on the GB, but now I have no excuse! It looks cute, I love the art style and the dungeon maker.
There was some other stuff there too, but that is what caught my eye most.
The Pokemon Sword and Shield Treehouse-
They showed off more of the Wild Area and some of the encounter mechanics and how you can sneak up on pokemon and even whistle to get their attention. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this. They also showed off Max Raids that, YES, it seems you can lay with friends and not random players. It seems too that Dyanamax will be the main mechanic and seems Z-Moves and Megas will take a back seat. Now, as for if they're out all together? It's unknown.
Now, despite all of this, there was one big thing that REALLY seems to have soured the mood for a lot of players.
It seems that while you will be able to transfer your mons from Sun, Moon, US, UM, LGPE, and Go to Pokemon Home, you will only be allowed to transfer mons that are IN THE GALAR REGION DEX TO SWORD AND SHELD. Basically, it means if a mon isn't in the dex, it can't be transferred.
Now, this doesn't mean that this won't get updated so you can add those mons later, but this is a huge blow to a lot of people who have legacy mons. I understand their frustration about this, but now it is looking like this has turned a lot of people off to the game. I hope Game Freak realizes this and decides to let us use all the mons from every region in this game.

He argued that I was just being ungrateful and spoilt, saying that it would help balance the game and it might of been a hardware limitation. ...but the 3DS held 807 Pokémon and is very low spec compared to the Switch, it could easily handle 1000 Pokémon even with the improved graphics. And as for "balance", every year the competitive scene almost always has the same few Pokémon on it repeated again and again; they are only going to limit the choice of "decent" Pokémon people can use making it just the same old-same old. And besides; previously they eliminated non-regional Pokémon from the competitive scene anyway so this will have no effect on it; you could still have non-Alolan Pokémon in Sun and Moon despite not being able to use them in Leagues and Championships.
It really frustrates me, as I know for a fact that most of my favourite Pokémon will not show in the new games; and I will have to revert back to the cool looking but overly used Lucario... (I ditch Lucario previously after so many years because it became too popular and over used; no longer the special and unique Pokémon from Iron Island).
I know a lot of people are upset, but some people are being straight up toxic towards other people and jumping on the hate bandwagon. I myself have been attacked by people when I try to put some form of logic or positivity into the equation.
Honestly, this is just a massive shit storm that won't be blowing over anytime soon. However, there is always the hope of updates to Home and Sword and Shield that will allow us to use all out mons at some point.
As for Galar's Dex size; with Kalos being 450 and Alola being 400; I can see the Galarian Pokédex being 500-600 meaning that we will get at least half or two-thirds of all of the Pokémon in the series.
Zoroark, Sceptile, Aegislash, Ribombee and Gallade; I can't see them all making it.
Just thought it was worth mentioning
Unless I am missing something, this isn't surprising at all.
Maybe if gamefreak wasn't wasting so many resources on pokemon lets go, we could get ALL pokemon into this game.
But honestly, to mitigate this issue, the whole Galar region should have had 100% new pokemon and they should have said "we'll allow the transfer of previous generation pokemon some time after the initial release. Please be patient."
I do think if the fan backlash is strong enough, they'll either delay the game and implement OR release updates to let the other mons be added later. We still have no idea how Home will function or how big Galar's dex is.
I personally hope for the latter as they don't even have Home ready and they need to work the kinks out. I feel they'll prioritize the Galar dex mons first ad then go from there.
It was revealed at a Pokemon press conference a few weeks ago.
Given it does all this, I can understand why only Galar dex mons will be in right now.
However, how it works is still unknown.
